Beautiful dogs and home in Costa Rica

Introduction

We are a Danish/Swedish family who love to travel. We have lived in Costa Rica for 5 years and regularly travel to see our family and friends as well as new places. We have 2 dogs, an 11 year old golden retriever Daisy and a 3 year old mini poodle called Macho. We also have a 4 year old cat called Zero, who spends the day sleeping and the night hunting.

Home & location

We live in a beautiful condominium in La Guacima, a small town just outside San Jose. The condominium is the perfect combination of jungle / countryside and closeness to the great restaurants and cafes which are located outside San Jose. The condominium is quite large and contains a golf course, a driving range, tennis courts and a large pool as well as several nice walking trails. It is not uncommon to see iguanas, monkeys, colibris, toucans and other animals. Our home is modern and very large (530m2 covered space). It has a pool and a roof terrace. We have a maid Yanet who comes every weekday to keep the house tidy as well as a wonderful pool maintenance guy and a gardener. The condominium is extremely safe. There is a gated entrance as well as guards circling the roads. (This is quite common in Costa Rica) Things to do in the area: - All sports in the condominium can be accessed for a small fee - Just outside there are stables if you like horseback riding - There is also a rescue center and several restaurants in La Guacima - Beaches: Jaco is 1/1.5 hour away, Hermosa beach which has some of the best surfing in Costa Rica is 1.5 hours away - Nature: There's lots of great hiking in the area e.g. Senderos in Ciudad Colon which is about 20 min away - Citylife: We normally go to Santa Ana and Escazu as this is where the best restaurants and cafes are. San Jose is also worth a visit for its market and museums

Responsibilities

Daisy is the most gentle golden retriever. She is extremely kind and chill. She never barks. At times she ’talks’, usually to tell you she is hungry, wants to go for walk or just to be cuddled. We sometimes joke and say that she has an old soul. Macho is equally kind and full of energy. He loves to play with a tennis ball and if you don’t have time he will find a way to play with the ball by himself. He loves to be around people and will probably sleep in a corner next to you while you are working, reading etc. Zero, our cat which we adopted as a kitten here in Costa Rica, is his own master. He hunts during the night and during the day he likes to come into the house. You will usually find him sleeping in a chair. In terms of routines, you will have to feed all three in the mornings between 6 and 8am. Next take the dogs for a long walk. We walk min 40 minutes with them. During the day, they are happy to relax around the house. Macho is always happy to play if you feel like it but it is not something that he demands. Late afternoon around 5pm, we feed them dinner and take them for another walk of minimum 30 min. Zero will eat when he is hungry and comes and goes a bit as he likes but he is always closeby. Once a week, we give both dogs a brush and Macho also gets a bath. We will leave a detailed schedule for you but these are the highlights. We have a gardener who comes every 3 weeks but would appreciate it if you wouldn’t mind watering the plants on the patio. We are always available by whatsapp if you have any questions.
