Dependable, trustworthy, empathetic, caring.
Tim was an excellent sitter from start to finish. He was kind, organized, and followed through on all home tasks. The house was very clean on my return, and my plants were thriving. I'd love to have him back and anyone would be lucky to have him! Thanks Tim!

Caring, Loving Travel Couple
Caitlin and Lawrence were great! They were able to come over the day before we left and we had dinner together and we were able to get to know them even more and show them everything they needed to know about Clara and our home. They sent us lovely pictures of Clara enjoying her time while we were away. When we got back the house was super clean and they left us a nice plant to start our garden with this summer. We would definitely have them in our home again.

Yvonne was just great. She was wonderful with the dogs, and the house was immaculate when I returned. I hope that she will come again.

Full time traveler experienced in caring for rescue dogs and cats.
I am so fortunate to have found Alanna to take care of my cat while I went on a nine week trip to Mexico in my van. My cat was a little more complicated to care for because he was diagnosed with IBD just before I left. He thrived under Alanna’s care. He almost gained a full pound while I was gone, which is amazing for a cat with this diagnosis. It’s speak volumes about Alanna as a care provider. She was 100% attentive to all of his needs. She sent me pictures and communicated with me almost daily. I really can’t say enough good about her. She was neat and clean and took such great care of my condo, which is a second home, that she is welcome to come back anytime to stay if she wants to vacation in Seattle. I think my cat misses her. I’m POSITIVE that I miss her. I hope to see her again in the near future!

I'm thoughtful, tidy and kind. Great with pets, farm animals and plants too!
I can’t say enough good things about Losida. She was on top of everything, kind, tidy, fun, and took excellent care of our dogs and house.

Compassionate, energetic and loving care provider
Responsible, reliable, friendly, helpful, resourceful. Some (understandable) family matters may have precluded a chance for her to replace linens (no time for them to dry) and perform a final vacuum in her spaces, but everything else was spotless. Probably tmi; in truth, I completely recommend Claudia and would be happy to see her back again.

Handy Pet-Sitter for You!
Everything went smoothly making arrangements for arrival and JD took excellent care of our 2 cats. He sent pictures every day so I knew everyone was doing well while we were away. He left the apartment clean and stayed late until we got back home from a 10 hour travel day. We would be happy to have him back anytime. Thanks, JD!

House proud, reliable, animal loving couple both in our 30s.
Lacey and Jay were such an amazing house sitters and pet care takers to my 10 year old cat, Bane. I cannot recommend them enough for future house-sits, they were supremely responsible, understanding to my house's quirks, responsive and gave great updates, thoughtful, organized, and very clean! I am so grateful to both Lacey and Jay for allowing my trip to Scotland to be as fun as possible, as I didn't worry about a thing with them at the helm back home. Many thanks to you both!

Solo traveler trecking the globe!
Kyle was such a great sitter for our two cats, Buffy and Milo, while we were gone for a month hiking the John Muir Trail. He proved very self-sufficient, which was super important for us since we were hiking and out of cell service for most of the time. Something that stood out was his adaptability. A summer storm knocked out power for two days and Kyle took it in stride. Most importantly, we came home to two happy cats and a tidy apartment. If you are looking for a sitter, look no further than Kyle.

Happy, clean, animal loving family!
Sarah and Caleb were great! Easy to communicate with and took excellent care of Banksy. They checked in regularly and left the house clean and tidy upon return. I’d have them come and stay again anytime.
Julia was an amazing house sitter and dog sitter! She sent me photos and updates every day, she took my pup Jordan on long walks and gave him the love, care, and patience that he needs. She was so easy and comfortable to communicate with and she left the house so clean and tidy for when I came back. Definitely recommend her!!!
Natalie took great care of it dog and cats! She was clean, organized, conscientious, and communicative. Our dog had a small cut on his foot and Natalie took great care to help him heal. I would highly recommend Natalie as a house sitter and pet sitter!
David and Elynn were fabulous pet sitters and house sitters. Our dog and rabbit were well-taken care of, the house was left even cleaner than when they arrived! I would highly recommend David and Elynn, and would happily have them again! David and Elynn took excellent care of our dog Cosmo and our rabbit Oreo. They made sure they were happy, well-fed, and got exercise and fresh air! We were very happy to receive several photos of our furry friends while we were away. They took amazing care of the house and yard, and were very open with communication. If they were uncertain of anything or had a question, they were very open about reaching out! David and Ellyn were wonderful houseguests, who left the house even cleaner than they found it! I would highly recommend David and Elynn and their two adorable children. They are wonderful, respectful people who definitely love animals and will give your pets and home lots of care! Thank you!! :)
Denise was by far the best pet sitter we have ever had! She watched our two pups while we were gone for 3 weeks and took amazing care of our dogs and home. She took the time to ask questions and make sure she understood each dog’s needs as well as how to take the best care of our house before we left. She sent videos everyday updating us on how the pups were doing. We were so happy to see how much quality time she was spending with them and how much they loved her. Our dogs were so sad to see her leave and we can’t wait to have her back. Denise made sure that the house was in perfect condition when she left and treated our home as if it were her own. If you are looking for a pet sitter, look no further. Highly recommend Denise!
We had the pleasure of having Maggie (for the second time) to take care of our home and beloved dog Frida while we were away for 2 weeks. We couldn’t be happier! Neither could Frida! Our big dog is sometimes a bit stubborn and Maggie managed amazingly. We had daily photos and video, and Frida was clearly very happy, comfortable and very well looked after. We highly recommend Maggie to anyone in need of trustworthy and dedicated house sitter and animal lover
Jasmine is a five-star sitter. She is everything you want in a sitter when you go away and leave your beloved pet and home. She is reliable, communicative, respectful, and flexible. We had no worries about our dog or home while we were away, and will be having Jasmine sit for us again soon. Our home was immaculate when we got home, and our dog was obviously well-cared-for. Can't say enough good things about this wonderful human.
If we could give 10 out of 5 stars for Candace, Brian, and Chris, we would! They were amazing house and dog sitters for Brown Dog and Scout. They were so accommodating with our timeline and had read our welcome guide to a tee! It was so reassuring being gone for 2 weeks and knowing our pups were in amazing hands. They sent us daily updates and pictures and it was clear the dogs were so well cared for! They left the house very clean and even had all of our bedding and towels washed for us when we arrived home. Would absolutely recommend them for a sit and would love to have them back again any time!
Robyn was a great pet sitter and house sitter. She went way over and beyond my expectations!!!! She sent a photo of her and my dogs and they were looking at her like they were in love. And my cats are not very friendly, but she won them over also. I would highly recommend Robyn as a pet sitter and house sitter. She is a very sweet lady. I would love to have her watch my babies again and again.
Wendy sat for us on three occasions this Summer and I can’t say enough good things about her. The dogs were well taken care of and she was, organized, tidy, and responsible. It’s great to find a house/pet sitter that you can rest easy knowing everything is taken care of. We are hoping she will want to spend more time in the PNW!
Ryan is a great house and pet sitter and I definitely recommend him. He took excellent care of my apartment and my dog for peace of mind when I was away. He is professional, friendly, and experienced.

I travel almost four months of the year and the only thing more important than my own travel plans is making sure there's availability for my dog at Brown Dog Inn. Truly. No other place offers not only the kind of facility, but the level of genuine care as Brown Dog Inn. Every staff member is thoroughly dedicated to their job. My dog - who is not like a happy golden that loves everyone, but is rather select in whom he trusts, absolutely loves it. In fact, I sometimes worry he loves it there more than he does at home. It's a good problem to have.
We have taken our dog to stay at Brown Dog Inn many times over the past two years. As our dog is older, we do our best to minimize stress and anxiety for her. Every other facility we've used in the twelve years since we've rescued her, our dog would show signs of anxiety at drop off - not here. When we pull into the parking lot she perks up and happily walks right in. They take such good care of her.
Great experience for the dogs. They came back in good spirits and well balanced. Also Brown Dog Inn was able to keep them a few extra days when we fell ill and could not get back home on the original schedule. Awesome service!
Brown Dog Inn was so fabulous for our pup, Elly! This was Elly's first boarding and doggie daycare experience, so I was nervous for how she would do away from home, but Brown Dog Inn took great care of her. I appreciated their posts on Instagram so that I could keep tabs on how Elly was doing while we were gone. So happy to see she made other puppy friends and had a positive experience. We will definitely be back here again.
Max loves the Brown Dog Inn! He can't wait to go play with all his friends, either in the pool or running the field. I love that he has such a good time and I know he is getting plenty of attention and wonderful care.
Brown Dog Inn is a great boarding facility for our pet when we travel. Everyone is nice, trustworthy and professional. Our dog has a great experience and always comes home happy. She especially loves the walks and time in the field running around. We never worry while our dog is there as we can call anytime just to say hi and see how much fun she is having.
The Brown Dog is fantastic. We have been bringing our little guy there since he was a puppy, and it is now his second home. The staff is talented, knowledgable, and it's obvious that they love their clients. We like how they divide the little dogs and the big dogs, and they really know each dog's personality. Our poodle is always excited to get out of the car and get inside the Brown Dog, which is pretty high praise, because poodles can be clingy. The staff are also flexible--more than once we have been stuck in traffic, trying to get home in time to pick up the pup, and they are always helpful and accommodating. We never worry if we have to leave the dog behind, whether it's for the day or for two weeks, because we know he'll have a great time. Definitely five stars for the Brown Dog.
Can't think of a better place to leave my pups. They come home happy, healthy, and relaxed. Staff is friendly to me too! 😊They clearly provide excellent care. I have boarded my two poodles, who are quirky and completely different personalities, several times and they receive very individualized and accepting care. Never thought I would feel comfortable boarding my dogs but I have no hesitation at Brown Dog. Unreservedly recommemd.
We’ve boarded our pup at Brown Dog Inn several times while we traveled and all experiences have been positive. The staff is warm and friendly and I love the Instagram picture updates. I think it’s a good sign that our dog gets excited/happy each time he gets dropped off. Take advantage of the grooming service offered as well-they do a great job.
While we were out of town Max stayed at Brown Dog Inn. He had a great time and after making sure both his cats were okay in his absence, he’s been completely sacked out all afternoon. Max has had issues in pack settings in the past and Brown Dog was careful to accommodate that and slowly introduced him to new dogs and kept him in small play groups. They also offer extras- pool time, treats at night, cuddle sessions, one on one play time with a pack leader, and leashed walks. Plus their social media updates are fantastic! Of all the boarding places we have checked out, Brown Dog Inn is paws and tails above the rest!
The staff here has known our dog Sully since he was a puppy, they know him by name and they're always happy to see him. Which is great. But the best recommendation I can offer is that Sully is never more excited than when we pull up to Mountain Dogs. He is so happy to be there it's hard to get his leash on because he is shaking with excitement and trying to climb over me to get out there. Even better, when he gets home he is absolutely wiped out from playing so hard. Also worth mentioning that not only does he go to daycare, he's boarded here multiple times. It's been great for both spur of the moment overnights as well as for longer trips. Recommended.
We have taken our dogs to daycare/boarding places between Freeport and Falmouth, and we have also had dogsitters, but Mountain Dogs has been the best of the bunch for our dogs. One of our labs enjoys their senior section where she can have a break from the younger dogs. It’s great they have space to accommodate this. Our labs bunk together in a private pen when they board and come home happy and healthy. Madison and the rest of the team are so friendly and helpful, and the owner Shannon is kind, attentive, and truly loves “the pack” at Mountain Dogs. You can trust that your dogs will be comfortable and well cared for here. Highly recommend!
They had some gross behavior ethically. First, my mother has no idea how text messaging works; she only uses her cell phone to call people. Second, my uncle was in a fire and was in the ICU for an entire month and became debilitated as a result, and he also has less understanding of how cell phones work than my mother. They agreed to watch his dog; insurance agreed to cover costs due to him now being homeless. This dog was MEAN when he first got her. She was rescued with a bite history and unpleasant demeanor, and he saved her from being euthanized. He poured effort into her, and she became loving in time. I heard that they wanted to adopt her from my mother. Okay, it would probably be better for her well-being if they provided love and stability(it is a little weird that they unpromptedly went there, though). Then I heard from my mom that my uncle was going to surrender her, but he was struggling with it. He also only had WiFi calling, so he could only call during the day with a landline (his cellphone, which he rarely used anyway, burned up). My mom is decent with phone calls as well, and one would think if they wanted quick communication, they would have done so after not receiving text message responses. Today, I asked if they had any updates about her or pictures or preferred to just let her be. My mom said she didn't think so, but I could check her phone and look at the ones they had sent. Good grief! They texted without responses (my mom is elderly), which I understand could be frustrating (but I know they were privy to the situation). They sent a terrible message to her about how her lack of communication made them believe that they were the best for the dog and that they'd pursue legal custody of the dog. UM WHAT? They already had been made aware that my uncle was dealing with deciding. The message was just super cringe. Also, my uncle paid for her needing medical assistance while there READILY…..and she had JUST been to Annabessacook vet three times and had been looked at-I think it's weird stuff suddenly popped up with her. I guess if your parents are elderly and have just been through a traumatic life event, don't let them watch their dogs, or they might just decide to keep them.
A fantastic place, I'd give it a 10 out of 5 stars if I could. They truly love the dogs and take care of them as if they were their own. I highly recommend for both daycare and boarding.
I am so grateful for Mountain Dogs Daycare. Shannon and her team do an unbelievable job of keeping the dogs engaged and safe. We moved here from Arizona where their pet sitter was my sister who has 2 fenced in acres and other dogs. After calling around to other daycare/boarding facilities, I was feeling really hopeless thinking about leaving them in a concrete floor kennel. Enter MDD! The boys come home happy and exhausted, not over stimulated and anxious. The drive is beautiful and so worth it knowing my boys are safe. Thank you, Shannon and team!
Our 6 month old pup Gus recently started MDD. He’s soon going to be attending 4 days per week. He comes home exhausted and is SO excited to get there in the morning. He knows where he is when we turn on the road! We love the updates we get to see online with videos and pics!
I researched doggy daycare before visiting the area and loved the look of Mountain Dogs. The reality met and exceeded my expectations! My dog loved the time she spent at Mountain Dogs ~ she was tired and so happy at the end of every day. I would highly recommend you send your pet there, for daycare or boarding. I can’t wait until we’re back in the area again so Sasha can be a Mountain Dog again!
We were living in Augusta for 7 months for a travel nursing contract and took our dog to Mountain Dogs Daycare several times - this place was a godsend! Our dog is large, high strung, anxious, and has issues with resource guarding - so we utilized the private pen option (so thankful for this accommodation for dogs like ours, btw!!!). Shannon was amazing with our neurotic girl. She always took time to get her settled, play with her, and ensure she didn't get lonely despite the private pen situation. The facility setting is picturesque, the dogs have HUGE play areas, and they even offer group hikes. Shannon was also extremely accommodating when we had flight delays that impacted pick up or drop off times. I wish we didn't have to leave the area for work because I miss this place and the wonderful people who gave us such valuable peace of mind.
We're so grateful to have found a non-corporate* local business that truly speaks DOG. Shannon, the owner, suggested we help acclimate our young dog to the pack experience by dropping her off for daytime visits before she began her first overnight boarding experience--FOR FREE. We did this for a whole week, increasing the length of time she was there each day. Our girl was very nervous at first. She gets along just fine with all dogs--and does off-leash walks every day--but she's a bit of an introvert and can be overwhelmed by a boisterous crowd. Shannon took note of when she needed breaks and brought our dog into her house, where she was happy to settle. (Again, our dog has a 3yo body but a real old lady vibe). End result: Our sweet family pet did just fine joining the pack and doing overnights. We are so grateful to have found a trusted spot with room to sniff and roam and be doggy as well as chill out! With three kids you just never know what kind of situation could come up last minute and it is AMAZING that our dog has a good place to go if need be. We're going to keep up with regular visits as we'll be boarding her there again in the future for sure. Shannon is so chill, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. If you have questions or special needs for your pup, just reach out to her. *the comment about finding a non-corporate place comes from a nightmare experience with a national chain: They returned our elderly dog to us with an injury so severe our vet said it could only have been caused by being hit by a car or crushed in a gate or door. And yet the facility had no explanation, wiped their video tapes, and after a lag during which I'm sure they spoke to their corporate lawyers basically invited us to sue them. Which we did not, because who wants to invite that kind of stress into their lives? But that experience soured us on large-scale operations. Shannon's facility is her home and it couldn't be more clear that she cares--no callous, corporate shenanigans here!
My three dogs came home happy and tired after a three night stay. They needed a private room due to the fact our hound dog has severe anxiety issues that make it difficult for her to interact with dogs she doesn't know. It cost us more but it was so worth it for the three of them to be able to stay together in their own ROOM (not crate) and have their own fenced yard to play in.
