Tanya and Marc were great, from the moment we spoke to them on Zoom. We had to a virtual handover due to an early morning flight. They kept us up to date with cat updates, they were really understanding that Yeti didn’t want to come and say hi and made sure he was comfortable outside by putting food out for him everyday. Tali loved the extra attention and I was so happy to come home to a clean house with their sheets and towels clean. Would highly recommend them and would happily have them back.

Jennie & Alan house/ pet sitted with their daughter over the August bankholiday, which should have been a gorgeous summer weekend but storm Lillian had other plans. Jennie & Alan weren't phased by the weather which blew the bins over & lots of branches on the forest tracks but none of this stopped them enjoying days out & activities nearby. The house was lovely & clean on my return home with bed linen,towels all washed & drying- a few things out of place but Jennie was quick to messege me when I couldn't find things. The birds & cat seemed happy on my return & seemed well cared for in my absense- I appreciated some good photo's & updates on progress whilst away. I was pleased the house plants & greenhouse had been watered as guests often forget that duty. It's a pity we hadn't had an in- person contact handover at the start of the sit due to arrival timings but I sent video & written instructions to help them find everything & they where quick to ask if they needed local or other information. I'd happily have them to return sit & so glad their daughter enjoyed the pets & garden :)

Janis and her husband Dan were beyond phenomenal! Communication was great leading up to their arrival, especially with coordinating arrival and departure times. And during the sit, I got lots of picture updates throughout of how Isabel was doing. I could tell from the pictures how comfortable and happy my dog was hanging out with Janis and Dan and getting all the pets and attention. Coming home, everything was left so clean and organized. I definitely recommend them as pet sitters as they clearly took such good care of both my pup and my home.

Early in 2023 I went searching for a sitter to sit with our Lizzie for a month. I found Lori during my search and I am so happy I did. Lori’s reviews are all five star and I can fully attest as to why. Lori was so friendly and kind and I could tell from the moment she met Lizzie that she would take great care of her. I received daily pictures of her and Lizzie snuggling and I couldn’t have been happier knowing my girl was receiving a lot of love. Lori left our home in wonderful shape (probably better than I left it for her). She took great care and was very conscientious of all my plants. We even came home after a very long day of travel to some wonderful chicken soup. Lori will take wonderful care of your home and your precious pet. Carolina was a fantastic Pet sitter. From the beginning, it was straightforward to communicate with her. She met us before we left our trip and ensured she understood all the house and pet logistics. Luna and Cal were very comfortable with her and were best friends with her fast. She was very affectionate with them, and Luna and Cal loved her and were very happy with her. Carolina was very responsive and sent updates. She was really lovely and easy to communicate with. She was very respectful of our space and very tidy. Janis is a wonderful person and also an incredible sitter -- we were very, very fortunate that she agreed to care for our beloved pets and rural log home for 3 days. We were confident that everything would be perfect – and it was. We returned to a home as clean and ordered as we had left it, inside and out. All plants were thriving; outdoor hanging baskets were blooming profusely. Most importantly, our beloved dog and 4 cherished cats had obviously been lovingly and attentively cared for. The koi were also active and happy. Janis is a “cat whisperer”. She is especially skilled and patient with shy felines, so we truly appreciated her patience and caring for our sweet Angie (with a semi-feral background). Janis immediately understood that Angie, despite her reclusiveness, craves affection and was able to start to earn her trust even with such limited time. Among Janis’ many gifts: she is a talented photographer and delighted us with frequent updates and photos of our furry children. They are so beautiful that we, with her kind permission, plan to include several in our zeewoi profile. Janis’ communications, reliability, self-sufficiency, and punctuality were exemplary, start to finish. We made a wonderful new friend and have already invited her back to sit again. Milly was a lovely house sitter and I’d highly recommend her. She submitted a really great application and after a FaceTime chat it was an easy decision to choose her for our sit. She is the youngest sitter we’ve chosen but she has a maturity beyond her years and it was clear she had so much experience with animals that we felt confident leaving her in charge of our menagerie. Olive our young Pom has never been left with a sitter before so we were a little worried about how she would be but Milly was so patient, gentle and kind that she quickly won Olive over. So much so, on the morning Milly was leaving ,Olive would only let Milly put her harness on her before going for a walk. All the animals were perfectly cared for while we were away and we returned home to happy pets and a tidy house. Milly’s communication from our first contact and right through the sit was great and she even sent a lovely video of the dogs having fun on their walk. I’d have Milly back to housesit for us again anytime.

Nigel and Emma have been walking our dogs for many years since they took over Petpals York. They have also looked after our cats when we’ve been away. They have always been professional and utterly trustworthy. They have been flexible to accommodate ‘doggie quirks’ and adjusted their routine for exercise when any of the dogs has been unwell or injured. They are highly recommended.
Nigel and Emma have always been wonderful with our Cat, Remus. We use Petpals to look after our cat when we are away from home. They are great with him, reliable, flexible, great value and trustworthy. They also send us pictures of how Remus is getting on via Whatsapp which we love! Far less stressful for the cat than a cattery, and great value.
Although I’ve not needed to use their services during the pandemic, it has been lovely seeing the happy posts from Petpals as they’ve continued to provide support for some very content looking cats and dogs. Petpals York have been walking our 8 year old Boxer since he was a young lad! They are very compassionate and professional and our family highly recommend them. Our doggie was poorly a couple of years ago and Nigel and Emma were very supportive and adjusted to our needs at that time. We can't thank them enough for loving our dog as much as we do.

Travelled to Derwent kennels today 18/06/20 with our little man Bear the Jack Russel for his very first haircut. He has a few issues bless but he was looked after fabulously, his hair cut was great, we will definitely be going back. Thank you so much
We ( Mike & Lesley Lambert) first used the kennels around late 2015. We have 2 dogs and had been having a lot of health issues after pick up when using a DIFFERENT kennel. So understandably we were very concerned about leaving them again. Initially we tried a short visit, no issues, a longer one, no issues, then a 2 week stay in July 2017, again no issues. Our dogs have been returned to us happy and healthy ON ALL OCCASIONS. We are totally confident that our animals are being fed correctly, allowed to play in the paddock daily and generally being well looked after and catered for here. WE WOULD ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT RESERVATION, RECOMMEND DERWENT KENNELS.

My bunnies Nibbles and Isabelle have stayed at Pippin many times, most recently in the new luxury lodge which is a whole summer house and garden for them to roam freely. But it is the care and love that they receive from Charlotte who apart from being highly experienced in small pet care obviously adores animals which makes it more than just a business. I wouldn’t send my beloved rabbits anywhere else. Prices are more than fair for the level of service and you will get regular lovely photos and updates. Highly recommended in every way.

My two little Russian Dwarf hamsters, Pudding and Crumpet, have just spent 10 days with Charlotte at Pippin Pet Boarding and they had an absolutely amazing time ! Charlotte looked after my canary "Biscuit" for two weeks and he was very happy and healthy when I returned to collect him. My 2 cats stayed over the Christmas break and I would definitely recommend this place. Alyse is experienced at what she does and it really meant a lot knowing they were in such good hands. The surroundings are green and leafy; the facilities are quiet and clean with plenty of views to interest the cats. It made us feel confident knowing our pets were safe and secure while we were away.
We’re very pleased to have found Alyse and this cattery! Conveniently located in York, provides a true 5 star service. We have been impressed by their professionalism and meticulosity. Our cat is rather anxious, but we felt reassured by their approach and Alyse taking the time to listen to our concerns. Our cat’s first stay has definitely been enjoyable, he seemed happy and relaxed when we took him back home. He has his ways of telling us when he’s not been happy; we have had the experience in the past when he needed a long time to ‘recover’ after boarding in a cattery. Not this time though. We will most certainly return. 😼

It’s difficult finding somewhere you trust with your dog, but these really are the best kennels. My dog is always so well looked after and always so happy. They get one on one attention which is great as my dog sometimes struggles with other dogs. The girls are all so amazing and Aylese is unbelievable with all the animals. They are so clean and they have their own kennel too and some are even heated on the floors! I love the photo updates on line too always nice to see, I also used them over Xmas and they sent me Xmas day pics! And she even got a present! 100% would use them and will keep using them! 💗💕
We have been using this cattery regularly for over 10 years and have recommended it to friends and family who have also been happy with the service. The owner is always very accommodating to our cat's needs. You can tell that she is a cat lover and understands how fussy some cats (and owners!) can be and always puts our minds at rest. Our old cat used to need medication and was very timid and they always cared really well for her. On our most recent visit in Sept 2021, I was delighted to see the upgrades that had been made to the cattery. New, larger catio apartments have been created which Alyse took the time to show me around. The care and attention she has put into these was impressive, she really has thought of everything. We highly recommend this cattery.
Reliable, friendly and very accommodating Like many pet owners, I expect my pets to be looked after with as much love, care and attention as I would give them at home myself. Boarding my cat, Luna at the Red House really is home from home for her! The service and staff are genuine and always happy to accommodate any kind of special requests (which is perfect for worried owners like myself!). She always comes back happy, and I feel very comfortable boarding her here as I know she is safe, well-fed and watered, warm and comfortable and most importantly, happy! I was so pleased with the quality of service that I applied for a job at the Red House; after working here for almost 6 months, it is clear that all cleaning and preparation is thorough and there is a genuine love for all the animals boarding! Would definitely recommend this place for all, especially worried or fussy owners! Fantastic, reliable company.
We have used the Red House on a number of occasions for our old dog who will be 15 this year. She always comes home happy and relaxed and even seems pleased to be there when we arrive! They have always been flexible when needed and the girls always greet our dog as though she’s an old friend which is lovely considering how nervous she can be, it makes a big difference. The kennels themselves are clean and well maintained and I’d have no hesitation in recommending them to friends and family.
I can't recommend this cattery enough. Have used this cattery two years running over Christmas and my cat always comes home looking well and settles quickly. Alyse is very friendly and it's clear that the cattery is spotless and that my cat has been very well looked after. Excellent as always. I think we've left our dogs with the Red House on at least 15 separate occasions. I can honestly say we've never had a single issue. The staff are very friendly and caring towards the dogs. The location is easy to get to, close to York, and yet very tranquil. Some time ago the daughter of a family friend worked there and if there was anything out of order it would have been picked up. There wasn't. The set up is solid. What's not to like? So seeing some bad reviews pop up got me wondering the lengths people will go to tear an excellent long running family business down. Not to mention getting their mates who have never been to the kennels to leave a review as well. I seem to recall a similar thing happen to another boarding kennels in York. The Red House Kennels has always been great for our dogs. It's run by genuine animal lovers who tend to each animal if it were their own. Don't just take my word for it (or any other for that matter). Come and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Unless your mate tells you to be disappointed. But why lie? The place is great. And our dogs are always happy when we approach it, when they see the staff, and during their stay. 5 stars is not enough.
We have left our dog Nuts and cat Biscuit here at least twice a year for the last 8 years and this year they were joined by their new younger doggy brother Archie. We wouldn't entrust any other establishment with our furry children!! You know your pets and can tell when they are happy and unhappy , relaxed, stressed or upset. All our pets without fail are happy and relaxed and look extremely healthy after being left for their holidays at Red House. Our dog Nuts strains on his lead with excitement to greet Lucy when we arrive for the start of his holidays at Red House, a sure sign that he is happy to return. Amie is amazing!! We have used her for a few months now after having a bad experience with a previous dog walker. She put our mind at ease straight away as she was a natural with our 2 Dachshunds. She's very punctual, always leaves the dogs as clean as she finds them, changes the walks so they get to experience new surroundings and great at communicating with us daily whenever we want to amend or add days to walk them. Thanks so much for loving them as much as we do and taking care of them whilst we are working.
Absolutely fantastic dog walking service - I cannot recommend it enough! When we first got our dachshund puppy three years ago, we were nervous about trusting a dog walker. We contacted Amie because we liked the professional marketing and quirky name, and since then her service has well exceeded our expectations. She had a key from the start, and began doing puppy pop-ins for us, before progressing to daily walks as our dog got older. She formed a brilliant bond with him from the minute they met, and he absolutely loves her! Amie has been fundamental in helping our dog grow into the confident sausage he is! She has assisted us with his training and given us lots of helpful tips during the tricky puppy months (and beyond!). She is 100% committed, very reliable and she really cares about the dogs she looks after; she always goes the extra mile to meet their individual needs. She is easy to get hold of and always responds quickly. The pictures she posts on social media are also great for letting you see how your dog is getting on and enjoying themselves. We have recommended Bloomingtails to several of our friends who now also use the service, and they all agree that Amie does an amazing job. Thank you for your excellent care and service Amie!
Amie is fantastic! Always professional & totally reliable, she is a great communicator. Nothing is too much trouble & she goes the extra mile to ensure your dog's needs are met, placing them on the best walks for both their size and temperament. I chose Amie because of her experience with dachshunds & consequently my dog has grown in confidence since becoming one of the Bloomingtails 'gang'. He has tremendous fun on his walks & adores Amie! Her amazing bond with all the dogs in her care is obvious. Amie provides an excellent service and I can highly recommend her.
I cannot recommend Amie highly enough; she is professional, reliable and a real dog lover. She gets to know each individual dog's personality and adapts to this. On a day-to-day basis, she provides varied walks and considers which dogs to take on which walk, so they can meet their mates regularly. Our large ridgeback/lab cross (Tilly) always comes home tired but happy. Amie responds quickly to messages, gives plenty of advanced warning of her holidays and tries her best to accommodate any requests, such as an extra day or a change of day. Tilly adores Amie, although this hasn’t always been the case. Tilly has a guarding instinct and has trust issues. Amie overcame by popping in to see Tilly every day for a month until Tilly accepted her as a part of “her gang” and I will always be grateful for her efforts. Amie will often post pictures or videos on Instagram so you can see the dogs having fun. She is truly trustworthy, and I have no hesitation in recommending her.
Bloomingtails Amie has walked our boy since he was a puppy. He absolutely adores her and I trust her completely with him! I cannot recommend Bloomingtails enough! Amie has really gone out of her way to help us out and I really don't know what we would do without her! There have been quite a few occasions when I have bumped into Amie whilst walking my dog myself and I am always re-assured by how well she takes care of the dogs and how she always keeps them under control. A definite 5 stars!!
Bloomingtails have exceeded all expectations of what you expect from a dog walking service. Amie is absolutely brilliant with my labrador, and he adores her. Amie is always reliable and professional. Pre-lockdown, I trusted her with my keys so she could collect and drop off Buddy whilst I was at work. She's always willing to help if I need an extra day (subject to space/availability of course). She'll also post pics on social.media so you can see your dog having lots of fun! Would highly recommend 👌
The lady who drives this van speeds in 20 mile zones. Be aware of this if your putting your treasured animals in her care. Very worrying. I had to put a star in order to post this.
Our dog Dobby is the most excited he ever gets when Amie comes knocking at the door!
