This is the best place to take your dog for training. I have a 4 year old Siberian Husky who was spoiled and would not come back to me, she pulled me on the leash and was a misbehaved dog. I went through one-on-one training with Shawn, the head trainer, and now I have a dog who will heal. She doesn't pull on the leash and she does come back to me when called. She also stays in the yard when the gate is open. She's like a whole different dog. I continue to work with her to strengthen our bond and cement the training we had gone through. She has become a true companion . I highly recommend Hillside K9 academy.

INCREDIBLE experience at Hillside K9 Academy. We trained with Shawn for the initial 8 week session with our 2 large, untrained wonderful adult dogs. The cost, time & care from all staff & trainers was unmatchable. The dogs quickly took to training. Our situation was actually quite serious regarding each dogs unique behavior needs (ie "fear biting", 75 lbs of untrained power & 2 OWNERS needing training themselves)....with Hillside's commitment, instruction and patience---we all achieved our goals. We will be back!

Hillside K9 academy is the best. I adopted a Shepard Mix from the shelter. It turns out she was afraid of everyone, human and other dogs. We were planning a vacation and didn't know what we were going to do with her. I visited every boarding facility I could find in Phoenix one Sunday. None seemed to be a fit for her. When I arrived back home in the Verde Valley my daughter mentioned a new place off the freeway, Hillside K9 academy. I called and went over for an evaluation. I ended up enrolling her in a training class and eventually boarded her there for our trip. I couldn't be happier. Jennifer and Sean have treated her as if she were their own dog. I am so happy that they are here and that my dog has found her home away from home. I don't worry about her while in their care. Thank you Jennifer and Sean for all the work you do. We are blessed to have you in this community.

I brought my shepherd mix here after adopting her from the shelter and doing at-home private training. I did at-home private training for months and nothing worked. I chose Hillside K9 academy because of their reviews. It was a ways to travel for me, since I am from California, but I do not regret the decision. Athena did an 8 week board and train program and came back a more obedient dog. She listens and has self-control and is now trusted at home without me having to worry about her chewing on things. Words cannot describe the transformation she has gone through. Taking her on walks was always a challenge as she would pull on the leash and bark at other dogs. I would have to schedule our walks/runs early in the morning before everyone else went on a walk. Now, I can walk her whenever and she does not pull nor bark at other dogs. She was a pleasure to take trick-or-treating last night with the kids. She did not jump on anyone or pull on the leash or bark at anyone. I am very thankful for Sean and his team and having them help with Athena.

I did some searching before choosing Hillside to train my labradoodle, Kira. Hillside is slightly more expensive than others, but I chose them because of their methods, It was more what I was looking for and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Before bringing her there I couldn’t walk down the street with her, but after our second session, we were “on the road”. Shawn was great, he knew how to get the best out of my dog. The training will continue, of course, but we now have a happy home. Thank you Hillside!

We bought our Belgian Malinois from Shawn & Jennifer, Shawn has continued to train him with us, and we board him with them whenever we go out of town. It's well worth the drive from Phoenix for training and boarding. They helped us pick out the most amazing dog for our family, and Shawn taught us a tremendous amount about our dog. Their business is run very well, and it's obvious they care and have tons of experience with training. On a 2 week vacation last year we dropped our dog off and he had been limping for a couple days, but we couldn't find the cause, which was likely a cactus thorn. They took care of him when an abscess developed, had a vet see him, took photos for us, and he was recovered by the time we picked him up. They do a terrific job grooming as well.

We brought our dog here for training. He had serious behavioral issues. After six training sessions, he was a different dog, much more mellow and less reactive. The trainer, Victoria, was very knowledgeable and taught us how to get his behavior under control. Dog training at Hillside Canine is well worth the investment of your time and money. I highly recommend bringing your dog here to see positive results.

The professionalism and caliber of training of the individuals who work here are unmatched. Shawn has a way of making even a group training class feel personal. I feel very comfortable training my dog here and am very pleased with the progress she has made. Best training center in northern Arizona hands down.

We took out 3 month old puppy Dooley to Shawn for two week boot camp training. The problems we had with Dooley were biting, walking him and general miss behaving. Dooley was 30+ lbs. at 3 months and we expressed our concerns to Shawn to be able to handle him when he is full grown. We went to pick up Dooley at end of two weeks. Shawn spend over 2 hrs. explaining all the commands and how to continue the training. Then he brought Dooley out and we worked with Dooley for another hr. It was like night and day. Dooley behaved so well we could walk him, without him pulling on leash, he would sit and stay. We are continuing the training at home and go to Shawn’s training center every Saturday for las three weeks. Thanks to Shawn we have a great puppy and he knows 10 different voice commands and it’s a pleasure to take Dooley for a walk. Shawn comes with a plethora of top-notch experience ! We truly have different dogs now after Top trainer Shawn trained them . Our treasures are beyond obedient, intelligent , loving and overall well-balanced we could not thank Shawn enough for his simply extraordinary training. Laura is the absolute best. We have a flurry of animals that she has cared for, and they adore her! Even our shy old gal who will NOT come out from hiding during visits or let others pet her, has warmed up to Laura. Laura is thorough, trustworthy, and caring. We plan all of our vacations around HER availability. If she's not available we don't go!

Laura is simply the best! She cares for our pets and animals, waters our plants, and checks in every day with pictures and updates. We wouldn't dare go out of town unless Laura is available. We call her every time!

Laura is an amazing, trustworthy pet sitter. She has cared for my two cats multiple times throughout the past year. She is always reliable and communicative. My cats have special health requirements and Laura is incredibly qualified and has always fulfilled the necessary steps for their care.

Laura pet sit for us, 3 check ins a day for 5 cats, 2 rabbits and 3 dogs. This was not an easy task but she shined! I would love to recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter. She does all kinds of animals, farm, domestic, etc.

We were on a RV caravan and Laura took care of our two fur babies while we explored the area. She came to our campground for a meet and greet then scheduled walks as per our needs. She spent time with our dogs and we were very pleased. Absolutely recommend Laura.

I take giving a recommendation very seriously. So if you're reading this, don't take it lightly. My dog Rowdy, who I got a couple of months ago, was abandoned with zero training or discipline and as much energy as a nuclear explosion on speed. I saw little hope for training him, so the decision was made to take him to Hillside. We met with Shawn, discussing Rowdy and his issues, and made the final decision to start his training with Shawn. Rowdy is a high-drive, high-energy dog with a great personality and a smile to match, but he had many issues. After completing training, Rowdy is exceptional. This is due to exceptional and superior training from Shawn and Hillside. Addie did an incredible job! Our mini dachshund is a nervous boy, and he came out of his grooming appt, tail wagging and looking fresh. Definitely recommend if you're in need of grooming services!

Baloo had a great time! Highly recommend your loved one spends a day here! He got plenty of exercise and one on one attention. We cannot wait to have him go back, next time for an overnight stay as his room looked spacious and comfortable.

Every dog I ever own will be sent to train with Sean. My dog did not have any huge behavioral issues. I enjoy a very active lifestyle and my dog comes everywhere with me. He goes to work with me, he goes to the gym, we roadtrip, we backpack, we rock climb. Because of this, I need my buddy to be highly trained. I basically wanted to make him bullet proof in my world. I did not have the time or tools to do the training myself. I found myself feeling frustrated with my buddy. I knew it wasn't his fault, and I knew I needed help. Several friends recommended Sean. I was apprehensive about leaving my dog with him for 4 weeks. I would do it again in a second! Sean exceeded all of my expectations. I still have to reinforce the training and boundaries, which does take work. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Sean is the best. My little adventure buddy is the best. I feel more bonded with him, the trust we have is mutual. The sky is the limit for my dog and I. I couldn't be happier!

There are just not even words in the English language to show my appreciate for the fine folks at Hillside Canine Resort. They were my angels. We were recently on a vacation in Camp Verde, and found ourselves in need of boarding for our poor cranky dog that does not get along with other campers, and was causing disturbances. Being from out of state, we consulted Google and was led to Hillside. After explaining our situation (and our dogs temperment) they told us no problem. We were in town for 3 days and left him there for boarding at very reasonable rates. Because I'm such a helicopter-dog-Mama, I called everyday to check on him, and they assured me that he was doing fine, hadnt bitten anyone (lol) and was even starting to like the staff. When we went to pick him up, he was held by a staff member and my dog was actually licking her, and let her pet him several times - I was gobsmacked. These people are dog whisperers, LOL. If I ever come back to the area, and have need of dog boarding or grooming, I would not hesitate even a second to call Hillside. I was so very impressed.

Our dog Essie loves staying there. She is very social with dogs and people; smiles when we drop her off and smiles when we pick her up.

Christi is very attentive to the needs of her client and their furry loved ones. She worked with us to come up with the best plan for coverage while we were away and kept in touch every day, sending us pictures of our little ones and taking great care of them! We WILL be using her services again.

Christi was the best sit in for my two dogs when I couldn't be there. One of my dogs does not trust just anyone but he took a liking to Christi right away and knew he didn't have anything to fear with me being away. An added plus, Christi left my house in perfect condition for my return. She was also very communicative while I was away.

We are so lucky to have Christi in our community! She stayed overnight in our home for several days with our two dogs (who are typically very uncomfortable with strangers) and they clicked with her surprisingly fast! Even on our first meeting, I could tell immediately that she is a true animal person-calm and confident. I was of course nervous to leave my dogs for the first time, but there was truly no need. Christi sent us pictures and updates the whole time and I was actually able to relax on our trip. I came home to a clean house and happy, healthy dogs! Her communication style is perfect and I could tell she really cares for our dogs. She is our “go to” now for watching our babies. I’m so grateful to have someone as kind and trustworthy to care for our dogs when needed. And it doesn’t hurt that our veterinarian knows and recommends her, as well- a huge plus.
