Providing Pet Sitting in the Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio
Animal lovers/rescuers - retired professional couple - dependable and kind :).
Amy and Eric went well beyond our expectations to care for Bodie, including care for a resolving health issue. Shay was a nice little companion for Bodie. Amy and Eric took excellent care of our house, pool, and plants. They kept in touch with us while we were away, sending daily photos and stories of Bodie. They included him on some local adventures. They are an engaging and fun couple who we enjoyed meeting. We would highly recommend them as sitters!

Catherine was the best! We loved having her come and sit for our cats. I didn’t worry and was very relieved to have her at our house and watching our cats. I highly recommend Catherine to anyone. She is wonderful!!

Animal & travel lover - dependable (Non-smoker, vaccinated & boosted)
Diane was incredibly organized and efficient. We had a lengthy video chat before the almost two-week sit. She asked many questions to ensure she understood my kitty's routine, habits, needs, and personality. Every day during the sit Diane sent one or more photos of my kitty with a cute caption. Another sitter took over before I returned home. She (the other sitter) reported that my apartment was very clean when Diane left. Additionally, she said Diane graciously shared information about the sit and was generous with her time.

Trustworthy, non-smoking, professional woman or couple to love your pets!!
Another great sit from Janet! We feel so fortunate to have found her. Leaving our Ruby for such a time period would never be possible without the confidence we have in Janet. It's heart breaking the day we leave, but we always rest assured that Ruby will be living her best life while we are away!

Randy & Joyce. Let us spoil your pet and care for your home so you can travel.
I can't say enough good things about my experience with Randy and Joyce! From the first initial call with them my husband and I felt comfortable and at ease. I was fortunate to meet them before their sit and felt even more at ease seeing how nicely they got along with our Margie cat. Everything went super smooth during their stay and they sent plenty of adorable updates. We came back to a spotless house and a perfectly spoiled little critter 🥰. I hope they enjoyed their time in Philly and with Margie...they are welcome back any time!

Caring Professional excited to care for your precious pets and home. ♥️
As a first time Housesitters user, I didn’t really know what to expect. That being said, Charity set the bar really high! My home and my pet were taken care of just as if I’d been here myself. She sent pics and videos frequently during our trip. Daisy was having so much fun, I was worried she might want to leave with Charity. They went on walks and nature hikes and played with acorns every morning. And lots of snuggles every evening. Charity organized our mail and packages. cleaned the house, washed the towels and bedding - basically left our home in the same condition we left it. I would highly recommend Charity for a sit and plan on having her stay at our home again in the near future.

I love the exchange that this platform provides for all involved!
Kristine is amazing! She has a ton of experience with large dogs and I felt so comfortable leaving our dogs in her care.. I can't believe we got so lucky to have her spend time with our pups. She made sure our dogs stuck to their normal schedule and went above and beyond, working with them on their training and leash skills. We came back from our trip to dogs that were happy and better behaved and to a house that was cleaner than we left. She was very communicative the whole time and took some beautiful pictures of the dogs. I would have her back in a heartbeat!

Mary was fantastic from start to finish and looked after our elderly dog with love and attention to her needs. She also looked after our home with respect and care. We couldn't have asked for a nicer sitter and would highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs.
I have nothing but great things to say about Jill! She’s a wonderful sitter and I felt so comfortable leaving my dog and cat in her capable hands while I was out of the country. She was thorough in making sure she knew exactly what each pet needed, had excellent communication, and provided me with daily updates. I came home to a house that was even tidier and more organized than when I left and two very loved pets. I would highly recommend Jill to anyone looking for a kind, caring, consistent pet sitter. Thank you so much Jill!!!
Mary Jessica was a wonderful house and pet sitter for our GIANT dog Mamma Mia. She took extremely good care of our house with it cleaner than we left it upon our return. Our neighbors remarked on all the walks she gave Mamma and Mamma seemed very pleased with the entire experience. Mary Jessica was self sufficient, needing very little instruction outside of our Welcome Guide. She followed everything I wrote and asked how much communication I’d want. I’m very pleased and would both recommend her and love to have her again.
What a lovely couple Tara and Tyler are. They had been in Scottsdale about six weeks before the house sit. and can to meet us. Rusé, our Toy Fox Terrier, fell in love with them immediately, and was in Tara’s arms within two minutes. We always like our sitters to arrive the day before we leave, take them out to dinner and get to know them. It was quite apparent from the videos and photos we received, that Rusé did not miss us. Tara and Tyler’s three grown up children joined them before Xmas-to Rusé’s delight as these were additional hands to throw his rubber bones and balls. The house was all clean and tidy, when we returned.. There is a strong possibility that Tara and Tyler will move to Arizona from Montana, with two of their children, recently moved to the area. They have already offered to look after Rusé in the future. We know he would love it. We cannot recommend Tyler and Tara higher enough, they were perfect House and Pet sitters
Exceptional Pet Sitters - Highly Recommend Diedre and Keith! I am thrilled to leave a glowing review for our trusted house and pet sitters, Diedre and Keith. They took exceptional care of our long-haired cat, Molly, and our home during our absence. Everything went incredibly smoothly, and their communication was top-notch. Dierdre and Keith provided regular updates, including delightful pictures of Molly, which put our minds at ease while we were away. Upon our return, it was evident that Molly had been well cared for and was content. The genuine love and understanding Diedre and Keith have for both dogs and cats was apparent in their interactions with Molly, and it was clear that they had made her feel comfortable and secure in their care. Their friendly and professional demeanor made the entire experience truly enjoyable. In addition to taking great care of our beloved pet, Diedre and Keith ensured that our home was in excellent condition upon our return. They even went the extra mile by informing us about the leftovers they left in the fridge, which was a thoughtful gesture. I wholeheartedly recommend Diedre and Keith as exceptional pet and house sitters. Their attentive and caring approach, coupled with their expertise, make them a perfect choice for anyone seeking reliable and trustworthy sitters. Don't hesitate to entrust your home and pets to this fantastic duo!
Kuldip exceeded all the expectations we had from a Zeewoi. She took over from another sitter when we got stuck out of country due to a family emergency. A highly energetic person yet extremely organized, she easily matched the energy level of my 2-year-old Border Collie Pavo. She not only exercised him multiple times every day, but even him bought him new doggy toys and treats (much appreciated!). She got along very well with our neighbor and with their combined help Pavo got a much needed doggy bath! With her by my dogs side we were worry-free and able to focus on our family needs. Lastly, she left a pleasant surprise when we came back home. Our home looked squeaky clean and beautifully organized. Kuldip is a gem of a pet sitter and we would love to have her back for our fur baby without any hesitation. I highly recommend her!
David was a super interesting guy, we had good conversation. My place was clean, my cat was happy...he communicated with me.. David is a great house and pet sitter . He is very gentle, which my cat enjoys.
Judith was one of the most considerate, trustworthy sitters we've ever had. We had to leave in a rush for a family emergency and really didn't have time to prepare the house as we usually do, but Judith took all in stride, leaving the apartment spotless. She sent photos of Baby Boo and Janet on arrival, putting us immediately at ease because it was so obvious the cats were completely comfortable, zero stress, allowing us to relax that they were in such good hands. She sent photos and video every day, which delighted us, confident that they were getting next level care. Judith would take care of anyone's home and pets with as much care as she did at ours, and we highly recommend. Hope she can come back!!
Jessica was an awesome pet sitter for my cat Fifi. She texted photos and updates everyday so I knew that Fifi was being well cared for. She was communicative and asked a lot of good questions to make sure she understood Fifi's needs. My home was equally as clean (if not more so) upon my return. I would highly recommend Jessica!
Farhan is a fantastic house sitter! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a down-to-earth, kind, and caring pet sitter for their home. We have three small dogs (around 6 lbs) and he took excellent care of them. They can be a little nervous/ timid around new people, and more so around men at times, but the dogs didn't show any of that nervousness around Farhan! He was gentle and respectful of their space and they warmed up to him immediately. I got a wonderful text the first morning that I was away that they cuddled up with him at night - showing how quickly they adjusted to him as their caretaker. I was able to meet Farhan in person before I left on my trip and I was able to have a wonderful conversation with an ambitious explorer. He is a delightful person. Upon my homecoming the house was very clean and the dogs were happy and relaxed. I can't ask for anything more! Thank you Farhan for taking such wonderful care of our three dogs and our home.

For 15 you can’t beat the price. Definitely worth it. I took my Nelly in the explained to me that I’d have to come get her when she’d have to pee. The cage was perfect size for her to freely move around and turn around in and even knock around her water in food because she is weird. The staff were super nice. Whenever we came in to walk her they would let me know how she’s was acting. The lady that was there in the morning was great she knew every dog by name. My pupper had a great time. I will definitely take her back
Great staff, have been there for many trips up to Cedar Point! You need to bring your own food and come let your pup out throughout the day which is fine. I do wish that the first come first served mindest was applied to dogs being able to be put in a run instead of it being reserved for large dogs in case they show up for the day.
Good price $15 for the day. Air conditioned with friendly staff. They don’t walk your dog and you need to bring your own food. Water is provided. Nice large area to walk your dog mid day with parking available or you can walk over from the large parking lot for the park.
We were in a pinch because our hotel informed us our dog couldn't stay in the hotel alone even though she had a crate so we called Pet Chek for help while we visited Cedar Point. Rebecca and Joe really helped us out and we got our dog checked in on short notice. I really like how accessible Pet Chek is from the park and how attentive Joe was. He was very kind and really kept the place looking great. The price for placing our dog there was great. I understand why they can't walk them but it would be nice if they ever got more staff and space to be able to do that. I felt our dog was safe. Thank you!
I had a great experience having my dog stay here while I was at Cedar Shores water park. It is clean and air conditioned. It is a smaller building. I appreciated that they have a protocol of only one customer and pet in the lobby at a time. Owners walk their pet to their crate/run. Staff do not handle the pets, so owners need to visit to let their pet out to relieve themselves and to stretch their legs. Staff will call the owner if the pet has an accident in their quarters so that the staff can go in and clean up the mess. Pet Check has several runs for large breeds. My dog is about 100lbs and it was enough space for him. Staff were all nice and made check in/out easy. I overall had a positive experience here.
Completely surprised on how this is ran. Don't waste your time. Find someone to watch you dog or another near by real kennel. When I went to pick up my dog she was covered in her pee. I was gone for 2.5 hrs. It's just sad and very cruel here. If you truly love your pets you would not bring them here. Lady at check in was super nice.
Great place for your pet! It’s indoor and air conditioned so they will be comfortable. The staff can’t handle your dog, so you are responsible for stopping by to take them out for bathroom breaks, but I found it broke my day up nicely. They also provide water for your pet. Staff was lovely too!
I went to cedar point and used the pet check for my poodle frosty. It made traveling with him very easy . The facility is nice and clean and it was air conditioned for the dogs . It cost $15 for the day . I absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting with your pet . Just make sure you plan to take your pet out for walks and bring food for them
This place is perfect for folks traveling with their dogs who want to spend a day at Cedar Point. It is essentially just a kennel with crates and small indoor runs. The staff cannot handle your dog so you are responsible for visiting to feed them and take them for bathroom breaks. Our dog is very relaxed and has low anxiety about new places and he did really great at the pet check. We would definitely use it again for him. However, we have had other dogs with higher anxiety would would have been miserable if put into this situation. Know your dog and do what's best for their personality and needs. Staff was all VERY kind and helpful.
It's fantastic. It's really just a monitored crate. But they generally provide water. You still need to stop by periodically to give your pet a walk and a little love, but that does break up the day nicely. Overnight accommodations and pet spa type services would be great when staying at the hotels or the cabins in the camp ground, but the staff has always been very friendly and I've used the service many times.
Everyone at Puckett’s is so incredibly kind. You can really tell they love your pets while they’re boarding through the pictures and updates that are sent daily. I could not recommend their services enough. It’s so nice to know Eddie Fitz is in amazing hands when we can’t be home with him!
I seriously cannot recommend Puckett’s Pups enough, I feel at ease when my dog is there because I know he is getting the best treatment. Tucker gets beyond excited every time we walk up to the door. Pics of him with his friends for reference.
I cannot say enough about how much I love Puckett’s Pups! Every picture they send (morning/night) all the dogs look happy and are smiling! This is our first time boarding our baby here. I’m so impressed with the level of care they give to the dogs and their parents. Such peace of mind it brings knowing and seeing she’s happy and getting fresh air! Thank you for taking such great care of our baby!!
Puckett’s Pups is the best. We would come back here in a heartbeat, and I wish we lived closer!! The facility is so clean, the staff is great, and we got pictures multiple times a day. We were nervous about boarding our pup as he’s only 7 months old and not very good with other dogs yet, but I could not believe how comfortable we felt leaving him there after just a few minutes of being inside! Also love the add-on options of private walks, lick mats, exit bath and more! What an awesome first boarding experience for Thor 🐾
We camped at East Harbor State Park and wanted to give the pups a break from the 80F temperatures. We have 4 dogs between the two families. Puckett's prices were reasonable and they made booking extremely easy. Dogs had a great time and came home exhausted.
Pucketts pups did a great job with our whole crew, even though this year was a little rocky on our planning part. They were incredibly patient, worked with us through it all and took great care of our pups!
I cannot be happier with Puckett's Pups and neither can my good boy, Luka. The staff and owner were so very helpful, friendly and most of all made us feel comfortable and safe. They took such great care of my boy, took pictures of his status. Luka had such an amazing time playing with the other dogs. So much so he almost didn't want to leave during pickup. I will highly recommend and will be back soon!!! Thank you so much!!!
Visiting from out of town and had a great experience with Puckett Pups! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They sent us pics of our pup every day which I love! Would definitely recommend this place 😁 …
Staff is SUPER friendly! They send a bunch pictures and updates of how your dog is doing. 10/10 recommend.
CaBella loved her stay here! Clean and very attentive to your kids!
I have been boarding my 3 pups here for two years. During the first year, we boarded several times. My pups received their meds and seemed happy when brought home. During the past year, this has changed. In April of 2024, they were there for 6 nights. We brought their pet beds. Upon pick up, one bed was urine soaked. My fur babies came home very exhausted. Slept and no energy for several days. I thought I would give another chance since the first year went well and boarded them for 6 nights June 2024. I didn’t have a good feeling when I dropped them off. It was yet another new worker in her early 50’s. We dropped off on a Sunday afternoon. She was there by herself and seemed very overwhelmed. Too many dogs there at the time for one person. When picking my pups up, all three were exhausted like they didn’t get any rest there and very hoarse. When I got home and went to feed them and give meds, I discovered that my pups did not get any meds! My one pup is on not one but two anxiety meds. He got neither! Two pups are on Apoquel for allergies. Neither pup received. I called and let a message for the owner. She called me a few days later. Her response was I have several new girls working and they probably didn’t feel comfortable calling you. Really?!? I had all information on an index card for each dog in its own storage bag with all medication bottles! I even reiterated the fact that my one pup NEEDS his anxiety meds.
They had to reschedule us weeks out then decided to call back days before the next appointment to cancel again! Now they’re claiming my dog is too “difficult” to deal with and they had to make cuts due to lack do groomers. The groomers have never once complained about my dog having any type of issues until they continuously kept rescheduling us weeks out.
Affordable pricing but scheduling was very uncoordinated. I’m glad they took in my pup even though they said they’re fully booked and I had called two weeks in advance to reserve. I even turned in all the appropriate documentation needed then. Delayed email answers. I think they’re over capacity and taking in more pets than they could accommodate. When I came, there were two dogs set up and stationed in the front office as well. Worst thing was my beagle came back after 2 nights boarding, hoarse and bedridden for about 3 days. But the location was very convenient in Sandusky. I just don’t think I would bring back again. Too bad they can’t talk but I can just tell when my pup enjoys his boarding or something went wrong. Next time I’d pay a bit more and get someone on Rover if I’m visiting.
What a wonderful atmosphere for dogs an parents. I was treated very respectfully and they went out of their way to comfort my fur babies. I definitely recommend 👍 …
Does not know how to deal with dogs. The employees aren't trained to handle dogs that have anxiety and did nothing to comfort her while I was gone. Overall a traumatic experience for my australian shepherd.
I thought they did a good job grooming. However the last time I went my dog had a bleeding gash on her belly. My groomer never came out to talk to me someone else did. They said she bit the groomer and the groomer was surprised and cut her. I told them I found that impossible to believe as she NEVER bites. Not even a growl out of my 3 pound dog. So today I took her to a different groomer and told them what happened. I asked them to let me know her disposition and if they thought she would have biten. When I picked her up she informed me she was great, not one bit of trouble. Just what I expected. Glad I found a different place.
My friend took his dog there because we had things to handle being from San Diego our dog is dead and has anxiety when we picked him up he didn't want to leave he was so happy and the ladies who were working with him were very professional and very loving towards our puppy and when we come back to Ohio this will be the only place to where I will be secure and more than at ease if we may need to do business to where we have to leave our puppy for any extended periods of time and as for myself and my brother and our puppy Blizzard we most definitely would love to say thank you for everything
It was my dogs first time ever getting groomed. They asked what I wanted done and they delivered 110%. The people working were extremely friendly. Lucy will definitely be coming back for another day. Thanks ladies you did a fantastic job with her. <3
So we used the boarding service at DogGone Gorgeous twice now and the first time my wife and I were extremely pleased. Our dog came back happy and tired and seemed well cared for, even came back clean and smelling as though he had a bath! So naturally, when we left town for a second time we went here again. I prepaid, which I won't ever do again, and when my wife came to pick him at the agreed upon time we found our dog playing outside and absolutely muddy. Which then made my wife's car dirty enough that I am now looking at a $145 detailing bill to clean or hours of shampooing our carpets to clean the mess. When I called I was told well he was playing outside and it was dirty. I understand that we can add a bath to our dogs stay but I would think to return the dog clean for the owners would be good business practice. Not sure if I will use them for the third time as we are not happy with the second experience. If you are using them one time great or have a good relationship with the owner it may be different. We may look at different options as being new customers, we try to be considerate pet owners and as such we want to know that the service we pay $130 some for is good service for both us and our furry family member.
Amy is such a nice person. I loved talking with her and seeing how much she loves her job. The dogs stayed there for the day and slept so well that night. They were completely wore out and napped all the way back to the hotel. I loved how the dogs could just walk outside whenever they wanted and the main room has couches like a home setting. Will definitely go back if I'm in the area again.
I’ve had both a senior German shepherd and a 5 mos. old Bernadoodle groomed here and have been very pleased with the results. Updated 10/11/24: The new groomer at BFF did an awesome job with the Bernadoodle as we’re adjusting her last cut a bit. Love the way she defined her face while leaving her coat fluffy elsewhere.
We just love this place and this family! They take such good care of our lab! She always comes home happy and exhausted after a day of play with all the attentive staff and other dogs. We’ve used the grooming services as well and it’s been absolutely top notch.
I had appointment scheduled at 8am for my dog to be groomed. I show up on time to be told the groomer won't be in her kid is sick with stomach flu! Nobody called me until 7:44am after I was already there! I can't drive anymore so I'm not happy I made all these arrangements for a 8am appointment to be called mins away from the appointment to tell me they can reschedule me for a later date! So very unprofessional!! This would have been my 1st time ever patronizing this business but I can tell you I had the worst 1st experience and I'll never go back nor would I recommend this groomer to anyone!! The groomer left me a voicemail to return her call and to reschedule when I returned her call I was sent straight to voice-mail again very unprofessional!! That's why I will never return! Very bad way to do business with your customers!! So now you will never have me as a customer ever!! Get it together for the sake of your business!!!!
Buckeye Furry Friends have been wonderful to work with. They were very helpful and had open communication from the beginning. They helped set up the account, were kind during the temperament screening, and put us at ease with Maple and Annie’s first visit. Both dogs came home tired and happy. We will definitely be back and recommend Buckeye Furry Friends to anyone who is looking for a safe, and fun place for their dog to gain some friends, and burn some energy.
We brought our high energy puppy Scout to BFF in August for some daycare while visiting Sandusky. He had never been to daycare before, but the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and instantly made us feel at ease. Scout had a great time and was eager to go back the next day! We took advantage of the convenient grooming options while he was there and were very happy we did. Cheyenne did a fantastic job. Overall, we had an excellent experience with Buckeye Furry Friends and look forward to going back.
We were in town visiting with our two Goldens and wanted to give them some play time. BFF was fantastic! The team were incredibly friendly, welcomed our pups and had them worn out by afternoon. Highly recommend and won’t hesitate to drop off again if we’re in the area!
Our Blue LOVES daycare! The staff members are always so nice and treating our boy so good! Such a great way to get him socialized and playing with other dogs! 5/5 stars!
Having a safe and fun place for my dogs to go during the day while I work is super important- and I wouldn’t feel comfortable sending them anywhere else! They are amazing with our dogs and a huge PLUS is coming home tired and excited to go back in the morning!
UPDATE: 5/30/24 Just had my girl groomed here and she is the softest, fluffiest she's ever been! I'm so happy with her grooming! Thank you for always taking care of my baby girl! They have been wonderful with our sweet girl! We've used their boarding and day care options, and will soon be checking out their grooming choices too! I feel like my pup is safe and having a great time when she is here! Thank you so much BFFs for the peace of mind and ensuring the safety and happiness of my girl and all the doggos!
Thank you for taking care of KC on her first trip away from home. We appreciate all the love you gave. Sincerely, Lisa & Steve Snyder
I have been boarding my dogs at Animal Watchers for over 15 years. My dogs go to daycare 5 days a week, and they are always so excited when we pull into the parking lot. They are like a second family.
Neglected my dogs, came home infested with Fleas, and matted with sap and pine cone.
They are simply wonderful! When we take our little guy there for a sleepover, it's a short goodbye, then he bolts through the door to visit his buds. We're so fortunate to have them!!!
Very nice place, I know my dogs are well cared for and and have been happily coming here for years.
My parents have been bringing their dogs here literally for decades, and I love and trust the place so much that we trek from Cleveland to bring part of our clan here when traveling out of town. They take wonderful care of our dogs and are always very accommodating to last-minute or special requests. We recommend, multi-generationally!!
We’ve been taking our dogs there for five years now. They just love going there and always happy to see Ashleigh. It’s comforting to know they’re well cared for while we’re gone. Love this place!
They are the best. We had an illness in the family that required last minute boarding. They were super helpful taking one major concern off our plate. I can't thank them enough. Every time are dogs are there we know they are well cared for... can't ask for more!
Our two dogs stayed with Animal Watchers for 6 days and we were very pleased with their care. They came back to us happy and clean. This was the first time we used Animal Watchers but we will definitely use them again in the future.
We've been using Animal Watchers for over a decade. They take great care of Bailey while we're away.
Left our large dog here overnight while staying at the nearby Kalahari resort. Our dog was picked up with the same happy disposition we dropped him off with, clean and taken care of. The owner was friendly and easy to deal with, accomodating a request for an additional night with no issue. There's lots of room for the dogs to run around, nice quiet country setting. Will definely use again next time we stay in the area. Thank you for taking care of our furry family member :-)
Take the best care of our pup while we have to be away from home. Love the staff!! Thank you
Crew is very nice and patient. Our dog can be snippy and they took the time to make her comfortable before we left her. Sure it's clean and well maintained. Prices are reasonable.
Beautiful facility. My fur baby needs medication daily and they are wonderful about giving it and recording that it is done. My baby is clean, and happy! Wonderful experience !
First time boarding. Very nervous with the four legged furries. Very happy with the service. Was surprised with a Sunday pickup fee and half day fee if pick up after 10. Would have preferred to know ahead of time. Still enjoyed the staff
These people are outstanding groomers! Very polite and considerate of my needs for my dog. They really ARE the best! A big Thank you goes out to them!
Left my dog here for the first time. Staff is very friendly - loves fur babies!! I feel comfortable leaving my Boo Boo there. They have an outside and inside play area.
Love they way they handle Nakita and her fear of getting her nails done! They are very gentle and take good care of her! Wld def recommend them!
The BEST care ever for my elderly, shy ole girl! She's given so much love!! You all are truly wonderful!!
Rusty looks so cute!
Tony got his summer haircut!!! They do a great job.. They are so nice and Toby loves going there.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars!!! Tom and Kay were absolutely amazing! From the beginning of this journey all the way to the take home they have been readily available. The amount of knowledge these two have to offer is truly amazing. They will give the reasons “why” your dog behaves the way they do. Paired with a plan on how to “fix” the issues. With this process you will gain useful tools that will be utilized for the rest of your dog’s life. Sending our dog, Wallen to the board and train at Lake Erie dogs, was the best decision we have made. Wallen and our family can now enjoy life together with a stress free environment. Wallen really struggled with food aggression… as he worked through this process Tom and Kay were able to help Wallen with this behavior. Truly amazing results after 6 weeks. We now can enjoy long walks, and his barking really has been tammed. This journey gives your dog the opportunity to make positive choices. I couldn’t thank them enough for all the time and effort they have poured into our dog!! If you’re on the fence about sending your dog, I hope this review gives you that extra push to give your dog their best life ❤️ A huge thank you to Tom, Kay, and their amazing team!! Best, Daniel & Brianna Eskins
Again thank you so much for getting Aubie and us to this point. We appreciate you both and this process. Your dedication and hard work was incredible. I'm still unsure when you relax and sleep lol. The patience with our questions and the patience with teaching us was amazing. We may have not been completely bought in at the first phone call but when you started opening our eyes to how much Aubie craved this structure, we became 100% on board! Not to mention the constant updates of Aubie with his growth, confidence, and him thriving! We plan to not let you down and continue to let Aubie thrive!!
Hey Everyone!! First let me say that I’m not great at taking the time to write reviews, however, Lake Erie Dogs not only deserves my time but all of the wonderful things that I could ever say about them. Their philosophy and the training environment that they strive to provide are truly a rare and excellent find. I’m a retired Veterinarian and have worked with animals my entire life and these folks are the ‘dog whisperers’ of training. They possess the knowledge and expertise to teach our pets but also the unique ability and patience to teach us as well as we (owners) will ultimately be our dog’s handler. They have loved my dog like she was their own. They invest themselves fully into learning your dog’s strengths, weaknesses, and phobias and then make appropriate training decisions, methods, and tools for ‘your’ dog realizing that ‘one size does not fit all’ ! My dog Jersey is a 3 year old soft-coated Wheaton Terrier. I’ve always been a large dog person and so she is not only my first terrier but also my first medium size dog. She’s full of energy and quite often has her own agenda to remind me that she is indeed a terrier! But she’s also the most intelligent dog I’ve ever had. She loves to learn and learns quickly and is so fun to live with. But before her board and train with LED she had begun to have a lot of inappropriate barking at the door at home and in the car. But even this was not my biggest concern. While she loves people, she had always been overly sensitive to noise and had begun to become very reactive on leash to new environments and the dogs she might encounter, especially, if they were reactive as well. When I stumbled onto this very unique ‘board and train’ environment being offered by this dedicated family of dog lovers and trainers, I knew it sounded like the perfect place for Jersey to overcome her defensive reactivity to other dogs. I felt that if she could live with other dogs under the proper supervision, that she might be able to learn proper social interaction with them. It wasn’t easy to give her up for a month but Tom and Kay were great. They constantly sent pics and videos of her progress and successes as she began to modify her thinking and then her behavior. She can now quietly walk beside, and even lie down beside other dogs. Her car manners are perfect and she no longer barks at every sound at home in the evening. She even tolerates the vacuum without any reaction. I am so happy for her. Because I’m retired, she leads a life of change with new environments and experiences as I travel. I am so grateful to Tom and Kay and the entire ‘Pack’ at Lake Erie Dogs for helping her accomplish so much to improve her life and mine. I’d also like to add that it is such a perk that once you’ve been through their ‘board and train’, you’re able to always board your dog with them in this same expertly supervised training environment. And for Jersey, that’s a huge plus, ‘cause sometimes, I just can’t take her with me and now I know I can go with complete peace of mind that she couldn’t be in better hands! If you’re looking for a suitable training situation for your dog and were lucky enough to stumble onto this site, please know what a rare opportunity it is. This kind of 24-7 attention in a real living environment with a family that will love and teach your dog like it was their own is truly uncommon and not easy to find. Thank you Tom and Kay, Jersey and I are so happy to be a part of ‘The Pack’ ! You’re a ‘12’ on our scale!!!!! “Better dog—Better life”
I was at my wits end concerning foods my dog could tolerate. We’d been on this cycle of ok with her food for a few weeks then she wouldn’t be able to tolerate it so I’d look for another brand that hopefully would work. Started cooking her food and that was ok but I needed an easier plan to fall back on. Kay spent an hour with me and cleared up a lot of my problems. I hope to continue trying to learn all she has to offer. Well worth the cost. I recommend!
Where do we even start? Our experience/adventure with Tom and Kay has been by far the most rewarding, humbling, and exciting one we've been on since getting our first pup Ollie. We reached out to LED in the beginning, before even picking Ollie up. Even from that first conversation over the phone, Tom and Kay were nothing but supportive, encouraging, honest, and helpful. They provided us with tools before we even knew what tools we needed. It was a very big decision for us to add Ollie to our family. When we decided to get a dog, we knew we wanted to provide the best life we could for the dog but also wanted to make sure the dog didn't "hinder" our life either (sounds terrible, but its honest). When they say better dog, better life-it truly is that and then some. Through the board and train program, which really is WAY more than just 4-6 weeks of teaching your dog how to become obedient, calm, well adjusted, and social ,LED not only made our dog better, but they made us better. We have grown, learned, expanded our mindsets and enhanced communication skills just as Ollie has. They have created a strong, steady foundation that we rely on EVERY SINGLE DAY, keeping it simple but yet so relevant to any and every situation. We feel confident and capable and so does Ollie. We could go on and on about the B &T program and all the wonderful and useful things we have learned with LED because there are truly hundreds of examples of just how important and meaningful their training program is and the ways it has changed both Ollie and our worlds; but even better than all of that is that Tom and Kay are genuinely just amazing, good, soulful humans who care deeply about your dog and the life you share with them. When we leave Ollie with the LED family, we literally don't have to worry one bit that Ollie is being treated (for sure) BETTER than we would treat him at home. What a relief to know that you have left your dog in the care of people who whole heartedly want the best for them and will work endlessly to provide that. We wouldn't be a quarter of the dog parents we are and Ollie DEFINITELY wouldn't be as integrated, (emotionally, physically, innately, and mentally) fulfilled, or well mannered as he is without Tom, Kay and their crew (Matt, Griffin, and all the other pups that came before and after Ollie). There aren't words to fully grasp the magnitude of thanks we have for all that they do. They have built (and continue to build) quite an irreplaceable LED family and we are so, so lucky. LED truly is worth the investment simply because they invest in you (and your dog) right back. Better dog, better life.
It was a big decision to send the dogs away to training. They are small but their behaviors were mighty. I was embarrassed during work conference calls due to all of the barking in the background. Visitors to the house were greeted with jumping and invasion of personal space. Things that were cute when we had one dog escalated quickly to ugliness once we had 2. LED not only trained the dogs, they trained me. With lessons before, during and at take home, my confidence grew along with the dogs’ confidence. We are starting to have enjoyable walks with no pulling. Neighbors can be in their yard with no barking. The best thing is, they are becoming well trained but still have their personalities which was a concern for me. Their improved behaviors will create a more inclusive life for them. I’ve always dreamt of having my dog at my feet while dining or going on nature trails without them barking, jumping, and basically being crazy around other people and pets. Looking forward to mastering the ‘Better dog-better life’ lifestyle.
If you are considering working with Lake Erie Dogs, do it! We have waited about 6 months after doing the board and train program to write our review…. and in that time, we have only grown to appreciate our experience with LED even more. Tom, Kay, and their loving crew truly care about their clients (dogs and humans alike!). Not a day has gone by that we have not felt thankful for the training we have received. We have a high energy breed (Australian Shepherd) and we enrolled her in their month long board and train program when she was about 7 months old. Around the 4-6 month age, our relationship with our dog was becoming stressed and she was beginning to wreak havoc around the house— she was becoming wild and showing all her Aussie traits! We didn’t have the tools, we didn’t know what to do. Chasing cats, chasing anything that moved, ripping things up, pulling on walks, demand barking, and she needed constant attention and supervision. Tom, Kay and their crew worked incredibly hard to socialize her and teach her commands. They also worked with us to untrain past habits and past training methods (which was very hard for us!). The training has been worth every penny and more! She learned a lot of impulse control and we now have a language to communicate with her that she understands. We also learned how to support her and set her up for success. We enjoy our walks and receive many compliments on her calm demeanor. That isn’t to say she isn’t an Australian Shepherd at heart! Tom and Kay taught us to work along side of her and also honor her biological fulfillment needs. We now know what it means to give her a job (you always hear that phrase but we never understood it). LED taught us how to stimulate her mentally to tire her out vs using just exercise (which is a lot of work for us and doesn’t really work for her either!). Tom, Kay and their crew are so accepting. I should say when first started, we were afraid of making mistakes during the training process, but they are so good at making you feel comfortable, welcomed and meeting you where both you and your dog are at to grow. We truly cannot say enough good things! We can take her anywhere and also have guests over, which is exactly what we dreamed of. We also take advantage of doggy day care and boarding when we can and our dog loves it! Thanks LED! We have a happy dog, with a happy life!
We recently enrolled our dog, Lucy, in a board and train program and I have to say we are thoroughly impressed with the results! The trainers at Lake Erie Dogs were knowledgeable, patient and kind to our furry family member. They were able to address her behavioral issues and transform her into a well-behaved companion. The board and train program was well worth the investment and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their dog's obedience and overall behavior. Thank you to Lake Erie Dogs for giving us a happier and stress-free life with our beloved Lucy.
Working with Lake Erie Dogs has been nothing If not incredible. Tom and Kay are two amazing people doing equally amazing work! They trained our puppy, while also helping my husband and I learn how to better communicate and understand him! We couldn't be more pleased. Honestly, if you are looking to get your puppy or dog trained, you won't find anything better. I assure you, its worth every penny and more! Thank you Tom and Kay for everything!!
Our time training with Tom & Kay have exceeded our expectations! As first time dog owners, we are forever grateful for the tools, techniques & knowledge they provided us to help manage Dexter’s anxiety. Dexter has learned so much and we are proud to be part of the Lake Erie Dogs family.
Kate is so caring and considerate when taking care of my dog. She sends personalized messages and updates after walks or drop in visits. I always felt very secure when entrusting her with my animal’s care. Highly recommend her services to anyone in the Sandusky area!
Kate was AWESOME with my three dogs! All of my dogs have completely different personalities and she made sure each one was taken care of and happy!! Definitely recommend her!
AMAZING! Our Jojo Loved every minute. Didn't want to leave the daycare.
