Alisha and her daughter Kati were so amazing! They planned the sit as a mother/daughter writers retreat (I'm truly excited to read Kati's book!) They were able to come by the house before I left on my trip so I was able to give them the full tour - I really love when sitters make the time to do that. Oh! And get this! Alisha read my entire Welcome Guide before arriving which honestly blew my mind. During the tour, she asked about specific things that I mentioned in the Guide and we were able to cover her questions straight away. Alisha & Kati also showed up with all their food & supplies so they wouldn't have to leave to get them after arriving - that's so smart! Alisha says she does this so the animals are less stressed out. She really is a true professional. I ended up hanging out with them a little longer than planned because they were so awesome. When I finally did grab my bags to head out I noticed that Kati was sitting on the floor playing with my dog and cat - loved that! During the sit, Alisha gave me updates here and there - but I wasn't bombarded by them. They also were able to coordinate with us to plan the best departure time so the animals wouldn't be alone too long before Kenny and I got home. When we arrived home the animals were exceptionally calm and I swear the house was cleaner than we left it. All in all, they were the best and we would definitely have them back in heartbeat.

Jane is not a recommended petsitter if you have cats or if you want the house to be treated properly when you are away. 1) When she arrived the day before our departure, she didn’t show any interest in the cats, I had to suggest her several times to interact with the kitties in order to make sure the cats were used to her smell. 2) She acted in a superior attitude when I was giving instructions about how to feed the cats or understand their routines. 3) Since the moment we posted the sit offer, we were clear about the simple tasks: feed the cats 3 times a day, play with them, brush them, keep the house safe and clean, inform twice a day about what the cats ate with photos and videos. Her level of communication was minimum by whatsapp. Example of messages “Nala has not appeared yet this morning”, “not much to report”, “everyone has eaten well”, “all well fed”, “too busy feeding, taking pictures and answering your texts” 4) When we arrived the house was dirty (her bathroom had not been cleaned at all, she had not vacuumed nor mopped the floor, the kitchen was sticky) the basic rules of the house were cleaning the floor, kitchen (to avoid ants) and I specified the products to clean bathroom/toilet before leaving. The minimum ALL petsitters had done in the past before leaving were cleaning the basic areas. 5) Two windows were unlocked, when safety issues were explained as a main concern. The biggest window with access from the street was not locked with the screw (anyone could have entered the house) and the window of the guest room was not locked with the handle 6) She never sent a message after leaving the house making sure everything was ok and telling us if the cats were ok. Conclusion: We could clearly see she doesn’t like animals, especially cats, she came just to have a free place to visit the area (which is a very touristic place, mainly this time of the year, when the accommodations are really expensive), she had a bossy attitude and was clearly annoyed by our explanations of how to take care of the cats and house, her communication was not fluid (I had to send a message asking her how were the cats almost every day in order to get feedback), she was a person that clearly did not care about the basic level of cleaning. The only thing she did was feeding the cats at least once a day. When we arrived the cats were really hungry.

Abby was truly the best pet sitter we've ever had. We were never concerned or worried about the care of our pups and home. All the neighbors have told me that the dogs looked happy on the many walks. She sent videos of photos about every other day. We hope that Abby will stay in our home next summer as well. Abby is very highly recommended by our whole family, including the dogs!!!

Kate was an excellent house sitter and pet sitter. She was thoughtful, sensitive, and attuned to our cats and the particulars of our house. It was really easy to communicate with her and she was responsible and conscientious about everything. When we came back our cats seemed unfazed by our return which was a great sign and it was obvious that she spent lots of time with them and gave them lots of love. The house was spotless on our return and she even alerted us to a health matter in one of our cats. She sent lots of cute updates and was easy going when we messed up a logistical detail on our end. Just a delightful person all around. I'd love to have her come again and if you have a chance to have her housesit, jump on it. She is a gem.

Melissa did an AWESOME job with our 4 pets! Her personal style and communication via text, video, and pics were stellar and super comforting while we were out of town for 2 weeks. She showed up before the sit to go over instructions for the pet care and was even here when we returned (before she left for her next engagement). You would never know this was her first TH sit. She quickly earned our trust, asked for clarification when needed, and overall is just a GREAT PERSON!! Her kindness showed through in the care of each and every one of our furry babies. She will be a great sitter for others and is looking to travel across and see more of the US while remote working. We have adopted her into our family and she is welcome in our home anytime. We were so happy to have Kyle as our house sitter for two weeks. Besides taking great care of our pets and our house, he was very accommodating. We were always able to get in touch with him if we needed to, and he agreed to take on some extra plant watering’s when the weather made a sudden change. 5 stars? Minimum, seriously, Tyler exceeded our expectations and we are DEMANDING when it comes to caring for our 4 pups! Fortunate to meet Tyler in person about a month prior, instant rapport, and she was basically born surrounded by animals. Professional high energy, and enthusiastic love for animals! We asked Tyler "Why the heck would you drive 1.5 hours from Nashville to hang in our small town?" Tyler replied "Have had animals all my life, current Nashville location cannot, I need my animal fix!" Tyler arrived the evening prior to our departure, met our 4 dogs, the eldest is special needs with bad hips, the youngest a wild child 2 year old husky, and in the 15 years of having family or friends assist with our pup sitting, this is the most positive and enthusiastic our dogs have been to anyone outside our home. It was an instant love affair. Our dogs are so spoiled with mom & dad working from home, nearly 24/7 attachment, they typically become depressed, despondent, ornery, you name it, even if we go out for 2-3 hours. The 3 instances where we did an overnight trip or the like, they acted as if we had abandoned! When we came home after 3 nights away (was going to be 5 but business cut our first vacation in 10 years short), when we walked in the 4 of them looked up as if to say "Oh your home how nice" and were content as if we had never left. That is a FIRST in 15 years. Not only did Tyler provide us with updates, photos, messages, etc. she organized (we did not require nor ask) our complete chaos of a large kitchen drawers, pots pans, you name it, it was the most organized we have been in a LONG time. Our eldest handicapped Husky, usually has accidents in the house at least once a day. The youngest 2 year old loves to chew up the carpet, toys, bedding. Under Tyler's watch, no accident, no chewing, and total happiness from a new affectionate friend! This was our VERY FIRST Trusted House/Pet sitter foray, and Tyler far exceeded or expectations, and set a standard that will be difficult for others to follow. Allowing a total stranger to watch your beloved pets and home is a serious undertaking, and Trusted House/Pet provided us with a rock star. Family and friends alike joke how we are over the top with our dogs, and Tyler did not bat an eye, and provided a seamless transition of puppy affection and well being. This review may seem over the top to some, all I can say is this is 100% true to life, and other Home/Pet owners are welcome to reach out to us for further referral. Those who are able to work with Tyler depending on her work/travel schedule would be well served to invite her without hesitation. Janis is absolutely the best pet sitter and home care we have had. She is a regular for us during our Christmas vacation because we totally trust her with the care of our three dogs and the management of our home. She is so good and efficient that I have already requested that she sits for us again next Christmas. Our three dogs absolutely adored her as she played fetch, took them on walks, loved and spoiled them. Management of our home was excellent. I had no concerns whatsoever as we had packages delivered and Mail that needed to be picked up. The house was in much better condition than what we left it. I moved to the Rabun Gap area 2 years and have exclusively used Shady Oaks for my two dogs Milo and Ollie. Their ears perk up with excitement when I tell them they are going there. The girls at shady oaks are friendly and will accommodate you when you need help. It was a major weight lifted off my shoulders knowing that my dogs had a safe and happy place to go, when I wasn’t able to watch them. I highly recommend them.
Let me speak on behalf of our fur babies. They love going to Shady Oaks. They literally claw at the front door to get in when we drop them off for boarding or grooming. They have never done this at any other place we have taken them…they usually try to retreat back to our vehicle. They are also the only groomer who actually groomed our mini Aussies perfectly. The whole staff has been so welcoming to us and even was gracious to check our doggos in when we were a couple minutes past 12pm one day. So blessed to have such a great doggie camp in Rabun County who takes care of our lovely fur babies!
A friend recommended Shady Oaks to us because we had an upcoming trip. We had enough notice to schedule our dogs for a daycare stay prior, and our dogs couldn't have been happier! The staff was sweet and polite. We boarded the dogs a couple of weeks later for 5 nights. We sent them with their own food, bedding, and meds. They looked happy and healthy when we picked them up. We will use Shady Oaks again for daycare as well as boarding!

This was our very first visit... I requested a teddy bear cut, she (Candice) agreed and this is what I came home to... with messages telling me to “get over it” when asking for a partial refund. I’m appalled that this woman thinks her grooming and her attitude was professional and people should see what she did to our dogs. They were groomed at the end of May before moving here and she claimed they were matted and it took all day... I dropped them at 11am and they were picked up at 4:30pm. 5hrs for 3 dogs is all day?! “Get over it”!? We’re heart broken! I’m still waiting on the “break down of charges” email and partial (if not FULL refund!), too. :( Beware!

I have never been so impressed with a Day care for my baby girl Irma Lee as I was with Shady Oaks. They went above and beyond for my special little angel. I could see that she had such a good time there. I wished I lived a lot closer, because I've never seen my baby so happy before. They took such good care of her. I was nearly in tears seeing how much fun she was having and how happy she was. Really is 5 Stars enough for Shady Oaks? No it should be a lot more. I can't recommend Shady Oaks enough! You can feel safe knowing that your precious little family member will get lots of play and love. Next time I'm in Georgia I'll make the trip just for Irma Lee. I want to give them a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. Just so very wonderful.
Needed dog boarding for 6 days, called in a week ahead and they had a spot available. Drop off was easy, staff super friendly. Picked up one day early and they gave credit for the remaining one day. No payment was due until pick up. Our dog didn't complain about the stay so we assume he had a great time ;) I would definitely bring him over there again. Thank you.
I brought my dogs here while staying at Tallulah State Park for a week. FYI-The kennel is 10 minutes from the state park. The owner was very sweet and polite and gave me confidence that my puppies will be well taken care of (which they were) This kennel is a small, but big enough facility for your fur babies to run around and have fun. Definitely will bring them again if I plan another visit
When we first moved to Rabun,we tried multiple kennels,once we found Shady Oaks,we knew we had found the place for our fur babies. Shady Oaks is by far the absolute best. Our dogs are always happy when we pull up to Shady Oaks and they are always in good spirits when we pick them up. They go above and beyond with both our girls,one who is 140lbs and one who is 100lbs. Ppl are often hesitant to take In larger breed dogs and the owner and staff treat our babies just like any other. Not only have we been late to pick up but we’ve been late for drop off and as long as we call,there’s never been a problem. I would 100% recommend Shady Oaks.
