We would recommend Karmen and George without reservation! They were our first experience with zeewoi and we couldn’t have been more delighted. It feels like a big ‘leap of faith’ to leave your much loved pets and home with complete strangers but Karmen and George, as very experienced sitters, put us immediately at ease and we left for our holiday in the knowledge that we were in very safe hands. On our return (11 days later) our dogs seemed a bit puzzled about our return, rather than it feeling like they were desperate to see us, which we took as a very good sign! Happy dogs and a clean and tidy house were lovely to return to.

It's always a pleasure to have someone as warm as Nicole over again. She took great care of our young dog and cat (as well as our house) who can be a handful for one person. She even managed to get our skittish cat to warm up to her and ask for pets, and that's saying something. We loved that she was, as always, very communicative and was so considerate to send us a steady flow of pet pictures during our absence. On a few days, Nicole did have to take on some unplanned last-minute event jobs, but she worked closely with us to make arrangements and be sure the pets were looked after and taken care of. When you are hundreds of miles away from home, you can't ask for someone better than Nicole to watch over your pets. She's a kind, self-sufficient person who took wonderful care of our home, and we'd recommend her to anyone.

Mary was FABULOUS! She took care of everything while we were away. We returned to a spotless house, healthy plants, and happy cats! She did really well with our four cats, even though some of them are a bit grumpy and strongly prefer their family to strangers. We can tell they were happy based on how relaxed they were upon our return - typically after a week away, the cats are crazy for the first few days, but with Mary, it's like we never left. We would absolutely love to have Mary back to sit for us any time.

We feel like we’ve won the pet and house sitter lotto with Scott. Most importantly, he’s taken great care of our much loved little dog, giving him a lot of care, affection and attention. He paid close attention when Tingsha began scratching (allergy to an insect bite) which needed vet care, with great communication with us. He even took Tingsha to his agility school class each week (great fun had by all) and to get a groom. We’ve come home to a contented and very happy dog. The house is spotless, cleaner than we left it, with fresh flowers and the bed all made up. Perfect! We had regular contact with Scott all through our five week trip and being “fellow travellers” (in all senses) enjoyed sharing lots of local travel tips and experiences as we each visited new parts of the world. We were happy to lend Scott our car and he’s been great with it, super responsible. Scott is a really terrific guy and a fabulous journalist and story teller (you must listen to his podcast about his travels, it’s a cracker). In sharing our home and trusting our beloved dog with him, we feel like we’ve made a new friend along the way. We recommend Scott without any hesitation and thank him for a wonderful experience, we’d love him to come back and see us, anytime. Thanks a bunch!

Kelly and Chris are attentive housesitters. They went out of their way to connect with our dogs, especially Smitty, our rescue. The dogs were walked, brushed, and played with throughout the weeklong sit. They sent pics of how our fur babies were doing and truly seemed to enjoy their time with them. Toby and we were SO lucky to have Tom be our home and pet sitter for our Thanksgiving Holiday trip! From the very beginning Tom was responsive and communicative. He was even able to arrange a "meet and greet" with us and Toby before beginning his stay. While here Tom took great care of our home, and, most importantly, provided wonderful care of Toby! When we got home everything was in perfect order and we could tell that even though Toby was happy to see us he was going to miss Tom. I would be thrilled if we could have Tom as our zeewoi again. Jennifer was great and I would highly recommend her. Right from the start, Jennifer was clear and helpful in her communication, and she was very available to us throughout the stay via messaging. She sent pics of our fur babies regularly - without asking - which always makes us happy when we're away. And the biggest compliment I can give: when we came home, our pets were relaxed and happy, and no hidden cat messes to be found (we've had this happen with previous sitters a lot). I would love to have Jennifer stay at our home again in future.

Janis is absolutely the best pet sitter and home care we have had. She is a regular for us during our Christmas vacation because we totally trust her with the care of our three dogs and the management of our home. She is so good and efficient that I have already requested that she sits for us again next Christmas. Our three dogs absolutely adored her as she played fetch, took them on walks, loved and spoiled them. Management of our home was excellent. I had no concerns whatsoever as we had packages delivered and Mail that needed to be picked up. The house was in much better condition than what we left it. I have used Smith Kennels a number of times for my dogs. Linda and Mark are great people and really do care for the animals that stay there. Each dog has their own kennel and they keep the males and females separated. This is very important especially if you have dogs that are not spayed or neutered. Many kennel owners do not think about this and mix the dogs when they are out in the yards, not a good practice. It is out in the woods so ticks will be near, so check out your dogs when you pick them up. I've only ever found one though. Prices are reasonable and if you have questions they will contact you back when a message is left.
I have boarded my dog with Smith Kennels several times. I am thankful for their care and attention to my dog, as well as the stray dogs that they take in and find homes for. Mrs. Smith is a kind person who has saved hundreds, probably thousands, of dogs through the years. I hate to leave my dog, but when I have to, I trust Smith Kennels.
I dropped off my Beagle for a 4 day stay with the Smith family. When booking my reservation, Mark and Linda ensured I had all the proper instructions on what to bring for my pup for her stay. Their boarding facility was great and my pup had a lot of room to run in her kennel and the owners made sure to ask questions upon her arrival to ensure they knew her feeding schedule and any other possible information. I asked for daily updates on her and got a reply within an hour of each email or phone call. I want to thank Mark and Linda for showing Oaklee unconditional love and administering her vitamins as needed daily. I will be back again soon to Smith Ranch Kennels!!
I left my dogs there for a week. They came back infested with ticks. I pulled at least 50 off my two dogs, and I had to take them to the vet for a tick dip. My dogs had tick treatment on them when i took them to the kennel but they were still completely infested. My vet knew immediately where I had taken them and said that she's seen this happen to other dogs who had stayed there and that I should be watching them for tick--borne disease. My vet has seen other dogs that stayed at Smith ranch develop tick--borne illnesses. I'm so sad they stayed there for a week, and the owner never told me they were covered with ticks, and she clearly didn't give them a tick bath. I will never take my dogs there again. They're also wheezing a lot so I'm concerned they may have caught somethingelse too while at the Smith ranch kennels.
Ignore the bad review..this place is great. I left my four dogs in their care. My dogs got to be together. They went into a play yard. They were fed the food I brought for them. 3 small dogs, one large. They enjoyed their stay. Reasonable price. Great price for multiple dogs. Owners live on the property. They have access to vet care if need. Should be able to give them six stars. They do alot to rescue needy dogs. I am so impressed by them.
This place is infested with Ticks. I found A lot on both of my dogs that stayed here. They are treated with a pill and topical to prevent ticks, but still some how got them. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt after seeing all the other reviews and thought my dogs wouldn’t get anything since they are treated, but I was wrong. Just be aware and I suggest if anyone wants to leave their dog here please think twice. Especially if they are your babies! Look into everything before you board your dogs and don’t make the same mistake I did.
Do not leave your precious pets at this place. This kennel has seen better days. My dog spent two nights there and came back with ticks and smelling like piss. His favorite bed also came back wet and stinky. I stopped by the Tractor Supply store to give him a much needed bath. There is a for sale sign at the kennel's entrance and the place has an "I don't give a damn" vibe. Better options out there.
I never like to board my girls but there are times when there are no other options. We had to fly home for my husband's father's funeral and I was thankful to find a kennel I felt comfortable with. I liked the country location and the cost was reasonable, too. I would use Smith Ranch Kennel again.
I just adopted an Aussie shepherd mix from Linda and had nothing but a great experience. She kept him for a couple weeks longer to have him neutered and wait for me to be home from a trip. When I finally picked him up he was flea and tick free, and just needed a bath to freshen up. He is as healthy as possible for a dog that was a stray and then living in a kill shelter until Linda rescued him. She has several dogs that need adopted and I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone there to pick out a new fur baby. Thanks Linda!
I can leave my dogs and not have to worry about them while I'm away. I have a prized bird dog and I know several others that leave their trophy dogs with Smith Ranch including the border patrol. They spend time with the dogs and really keep an eye on them. Best value, best care, best kennels in the valley.

I’ve taken my dog to several places since moving to Brownsville. No one compares to waggin tails. The personnel is caring and understanding and so very patient. Milo always looks so handsome when I pick him up. The prices are very reasonable too. Very professional!!

Horrible service!! Will never take my dog here again. They mistakenly completely shaved off all my German shepherd's hair. I can only imagine what they put her through. Their apology was reimbursing me 10 dollars for ruining the look of my dog. Never again!!

I have a rescue that’s not very trusting. When I first rescued him, the vet had to sedate him to be groomed. I’ve taken him to other places before and they were never able to work on him, until I found this place. They are extremely patient and caring with my fur baby and Max always ends up looking so good. I started taking my other dog there too. Not to mention this place is very reasonably priced. Great service at a great price.
