It was a pleasure to have Cindy care for my cat Stella while I was away on an unexpected last-minute trip. Cindy sent frequent updates and photos, which provided a great comfort to me since I had only been home from a long trip 3 days before suddenly having to leave again. Stella seemed quite comfortable with Cindy's company! I returned home to a relaxed kitty and tidy apartment. Thank you, Cindy!

Shauna was a wonderful house and pet sitter. I got occasional photos of Buzzi (the cat) -- enough for me to see that Buzzi was very happy. Periodic updates from Shauna revealed no problems. The house looks great; now I just have to keep it that neat and clean.

Hi! I am Olivia, and my partner's name is Belrie. We look forward to meeting you
I am so fortunate because I had to cancel this sit at the last moment and Olivia and Belrie were extremely understanding. All our communications leading up to the sit were phenomenal, and I can't wait to have them stay with Pearl soon.

Traveling professional with a love for new experiences!
Sharon was just a wonderful sitter. She has an engaging, positive personality and is full of energy. We were happy with the updates and photos of 2 content Goldens, whether on a trail or chilling by her feet. It is so wonderful to go away knowing your fur babies are loved and cared for in their own home. Will need to come up with a trip so we can invite this special lady back.

Flexible, reliable, & adventurous married couple. Animal loving + Travel ready!
Jordan and Alexander were absolutely wonderful pet and house sitters during our 3.5 weeks away. Jordan kept in contact with us with pictures and updates about our dog, and it was clear both she and Alexander are real animal lovers. They took wonderful care of our home, plants and garden as well, and we came back to a clean and tidy house and a happy dog. If they had any questions, they would just ask, and they took care of everything that was needed while we were traveling. We highly recommend them for any house and pet sit opportunity, and hope they will come back to our home again next time we go away. Thank you, Jordan and Alexander!

Experienced pet and housesitter, trustworthy, conscientious and caring
Judy is clearly a pro at being a housesitter. She was super communicative and sent us frequent pictures. She kept our home tidy and took great care of Lola. In fact, on a last-minute notice, she was even able to stay an extra night due to a disruption in our travel plans. Five stars all around.

Olive can be a bit shy with some new people but April quickly won her love. Can’t thank April enough for her care of Olive and our home. Great communication, left our place clean and tidy with a very happy pup. Would love to have her again anytime. Thank you, April!

Sidney did a great job taking care of our dog and cat over a long weekend. We got regular updates and he was very responsive.

We hope to make the acquaintance of both you and your pets!
Nicole was amazing! This was the second time she sat for Leo and she was great again. She expertly navigated Leo dealing with digestive issues, was communicative, and took great care of Leo and my home. After her first time sitting, I reached out immediately to see if she was free for this sit.

Tina was a fantastic house/pet sitter for my cat Trixie - I can’t recommend her enough! She was very communicative and also self sufficient and I felt completely at peace with Trixie in her care. She took it upon herself to water my plants and also trimmed Trixie’s nails, which I always struggle with! She provided perfect company for Trixie, playing with her, brushing her, loving her and giving her daily medicine. She also left my apartment in perfect condition. I would gladly have Tina pet sit again. A 10/10 experience.
Leslie and Kyle set the bar for all other pet sitters! On the first morning of their stay my cat got out due to a faulty window in my apartment and they handled the situation so well. Leslie sent a text explaining what happened and that my cat had returned safely and she was so calm about the whole thing that it put me at ease for the rest of my trip. Kyle went above and beyond and not only fixed the window screen (he actually fixed two screens during their stay!) but also made sure the window was secure until maintenance could come and fix the issue. Their go with the flow attitude was amazing. I would 100% have them sit for me again! I can not recommend them enough. You would be lucky to have Leslie and Kyle as your sitters :)
Angela did a great job caring for Willie for 10 days while we were out of town. She was easy to communicate with and kept us informed about Willie, along with sending photos of him out on walks and at the beach. Angela was very accomodating when we needed to come home a day early - Thank you! The house was left in good shape and it's clear that Angela is organized and reliable and clearly loves her pet charges. I'd recommend Angela and will definitely include her as one of our top sitter choices in the future! Thanks again, Angela!
Hanna did an excellent job sitting Molly, Eddie, Jasper, and Miley. She communicated well, took notes on our initial meet and greet. She went out of her way to help us get the dogs to a kennel when we experienced a family emergency and could not extend her sit due to work commitments. The dogs loved her and the shy kitties came out of greet her mid stay. She left our home immaculate and well cared for. She is truly a winning pet sitter in our eyes! We hope she can come again sometime.
Ramona and Brandon were the perfect sitters! They rescued me and were very accommodating with my needs. Ramona's communication with me was A1. We spoke multiple times before she arrived and throughout the sit. She was good at keeping me updated and I was very grateful for that, being so far away. The pets gravitated toward them from the moment they arrived and you could see that all she and Brandon wanted to do was spoil the pets with lots of cuddles. My female pup was in heat and they handled that very well and were able to keep her and my male dog separated. I could only imagine how exhausting that may have been but they didn't complain one bit. Ramona and Brandon had to hand over the sit to another sitter and were kind enough to write out the details and everything they observed to make the transition a seamless one. I must say, it helped tremendously. I'd have them back in a heartbeat to sit for me as they showed that I could trust them, not only to take care of my pets but to respect my home they way they would their own. Thanks again for making my trip away worth it!
Leo and Susi were wonderful pet sitters for our two cats. They were responsive, communicative, and gracious guests, and the I swear the house was cleaner when we got home than we left it. The cats were very contented. Any time we leave we will be checking in with them first. Such a pleasure to work with.
Judith was one of the most considerate, trustworthy sitters we've ever had. We had to leave in a rush for a family emergency and really didn't have time to prepare the house as we usually do, but Judith took all in stride, leaving the apartment spotless. She sent photos of Baby Boo and Janet on arrival, putting us immediately at ease because it was so obvious the cats were completely comfortable, zero stress, allowing us to relax that they were in such good hands. She sent photos and video every day, which delighted us, confident that they were getting next level care. Judith would take care of anyone's home and pets with as much care as she did at ours, and we highly recommend. Hope she can come back!!
David was an outstanding house/pet sitter for our active pup Tosha, older kitty Rascal, and 4 chickens. Rascal came home with a deep, gaping wound the day before we left for 11 days, and David was very responsible in monitoring the healing process with photos and texts to us. He exercised Tosha in the neighborhood and local parks, and obviously enjoyed her company. Our house was spotless and extremely neat when we got home, which is always welcoming after a long trip. We are very grateful for the excellent care David gave to our precious pets and home.
Neil and Anne have just sat for us for a second time, for a week. They are outstanding sitters in every way. Always punctual with communication and arrival. They both have responsible jobs and this is evident as they are both very organised. They care very much about the animals they look after. We were regularly sent updates, pictures and video clips of them, which is great to see when you are away. When we came home we were greeted by happy pets and an immaculately tidy house. We cannot recommend Neil and Anne enough. As far as we are concerned they are perfect housesitters! …...Hopefully they will come back and sit again soon!
Heath spent a long weekend at my home taking great care of both dogs and the cat. He was able to help out on rather short notice, and I felt very comfortable leaving my pets in his care. Heath is friendly and reliable and left my home neat and tidy. I would definitely recommend him as a house/pet sitter for future assignments!

I'm so appreciative of Gus at Pet Peeps. It's difficult enough leaving a pet behind during travel, and even more stressful to plan it over a holiday, but Gus was so helpful arranging care over Christmas. I especially liked the feature on the website to opt into daily journals, so I got a daily update every time my cat was checked in on. It really assured me that my pet was in good hands!
The Pet Peeps team is caring and experienced. They took great care of my sweet four-leggeds for over seven years, into their old age. The founder, Gus, genuinely cares about his clients. I also loved getting the cute photo updates from the team. Much gratitude to you, Pet Peeps! You contributed to a happy and healthy life for Miss Pinky and Bean 🩵
Gus responded to my frantic phone call looking for a cat sitter for a friend who'd been hospitalized unexpectedly with compassion and professionalism. Went above and beyond in providing excellent service in an emergency situation. I am very grateful. Elizabeth V. , Reston, VA
Pet Peeps took care of my cat Andy during my 2 years in DC and I could not have asked for better care. Gus and Mavid were amazing and I could tell Andy really enjoyed Mavid’s visits. Pet Peeps was able to accommodate Andy during a diabetic episode and I felt totally confident he was in safe hands. Gus and his team also were able to accommodate me on several occasions with last minute adjustments due to travel. Additionally, I appreciated the friendly service, excellent communication and the easy to use website. Andy and I would 100% recommend Pet Peeps!
I just got off the phone with Pet Peeps after inquiring about my reactive German Shepherd and had the most incredible conversation. Gus walked me through options and helped me address all my needs regarding my not so sweet lady. I have a lot of confidence in his recommendation and opinions. For the past three years I have done A LOT for my dog, driven many miles, jumped through many hoops, and talked many folk's ears off. However in the 15 minute conversation I had with Mr. Elfving, I have never felt more heard, or understood. For the first time in 3 years I felt "helped" and I genuinely appreciate it. He did not meet my dog but I'm attaching a photo because she's cute.
My name is Zooey and I am a 13 year old Puggle. I have asked my person to write this note recommending Pet Peeps to take care of your beloved pets. Gus was my first dog walker when I was a puppy. I love him so much. He took me to my first Pride parade. We had sooo much fun together (we still do). He is reliable, responsible and my person said he is reasonable in price. Gus mostly manages these days but we still use Pet Peeps for my walks. My walker and I enjoy each other’s company as we walk around my neighborhood. My human and I strongly recommend Pet Peeps. Woof!
We had a terrible experience using Pet Peeps. I would not advise anyone to rely on Gus if their pet has any sort of medical need. Not only was he unprofessional throughout the screening process, but he completely dropped the ball on taking care of our scared senior cat who needs insulin twice a day. He called on the first visit screaming at us that we lied about our cat being an easy job. We’ve had pet sitters come without issue in the past, and we obviously cannot predict if our cat is going to hide in the closet. He was so dramatic, and our downstairs neighbors had to come up with him to help. It’s truly embarrassing that he claims he’s been running a pet sitting business for decades and needs a neighbor to show him how to befriend a petrified senior cat. I would be happy to provide more information about our experience if you reach out.
We used Pet Peeps to walk our dog when we first adopted him in early 2018. Gus was very kind and we had a great first meeting with him before starting our walks -- you could tell he loves all pets and that he is passionate about his business. While we only used dog walking from Pet Peeps for a short time (we figured out our dog had separation anxiety and needed full time daycare to be his happiest), I would certainly recommend Gus and his team!
We recently moved away from the DC area, but for six years Pet Peeps provided daily dog walks and pet sitting for our dog and cat. Gus and his team were always available (even on short notice for emergencies) and always took excellent care of our fur-kids and went the extra mile. We always knew our pets were in good hands.
DO NOT SKIP THIS REVIEW: As a pet parent - communication is vital to me. I spoke with Gus on the phone, he assisted me with questions, concerns, and thoughts I had. We spoke on the phone, we even had a meeting to make this process easier. It all worked out. I felt respected and heard, and most important I felt my pets were cared for. I never had pets before, so I am always concerned if they're okay - and with Gus I had that peace of mind. So look no further, prices are excellent, care is exceptional, and Gus is awesome. Alonso B.
I have truly never written a review before, but I am so grateful to The Puppy Au Pair and Anne Marie that I needed to share my experience. I got married last month, and that meant that time snuck up on me fast. After frantic Googling way too close to the wedding, I found The Puppy Au Pair and their many services. Anne Marie put together a special, affordable package that met our needs and was a dream to work with. I hope to find an opportunity to work with them again and strongly recommend you hire them—whether for your special day, or just because. I had plans for everything except for how to manage my dog. We had a complex plan, it had many steps, and we needed someone to pick her up from our friend's house, take her to our first look location, and then babysit her at the hotel. Complicated! And on top of that, places that specialize in dogs at weddings have a ridiculous markup amd were like $500 for three hours of dog watching. And they couldn't pick up my dog and drive her around anyway. It was so wonderful to know I could hand off this very important and complex item to Anne Marie and her amazing team member, Madison. My wedding planner needed her own babysitter, but Anne Marie was on it, Madison was a gem, and we are very, very grateful. Photo of Mabel in all her wedding glory attached.
I am a single dog dad of one adorable little girl named Briseis. When I started going back to the office for work, I was in need of someone I trusted to walk her. I found Anne Marie & The Puppy Au Pair online & couldn't be happier with the service I have received. Anne Marie is like family to us & her staff are top notch. They take excellent care of Briseis while I am away at work or when I have to board her for travel. They even send me emails, with the highlights from her walk each day, which always puts a smile on my face. Not having to worry about Briseis when I am gone is a huge lift off my shoulders. I cannot recommend Anne Marie & her staff enough. I know my pup would agree as well. THANK YOU Puppy Au Pair!!
The Puppy au Pair is the BEST! The owner, Anne Marie, has been walking and boarding my dog for close to10 years and she is just wonderful - 100% reliable, goes the extra mile in caring for my dog, sends "pupdates" after every walk/daily when boarding (with pics!), and always has a great staff. My dog is very wary of new people so Anne Marie always walks with a new staff member so that my dog can get used to her before going on solo walks. Best of all - my dog absolutely loves her! When she boards with Anne Marie I can tell from the pics and videos that my pup having the time of her life : ) ***UPDATE*** -I wanted to add this updated review, as the Puppy au Pair has once again provided outstanding services. I recently had a flight delay and cancelation that left me getting home several hours after my expected arrival. Anne Marie was able to arrange for an emergency house key transfer and evening walk so that my senior pup wasn’t left unattended – a true life saver. I’ve been using this service for over 10 years and can’t say enough good things about the owner, Anne Marie, and all her walkers. Everyone is so thoughtful and caring and I feel great peace of mind knowing that my dog is in their care
We’ve been using Puppy Au Pair for the past 4 years since we moved to Old Town and our two fur babies love Anne Marie and the other walkers. They are always excited when it’s time for their walk and I love receiving the daily updates and pictures from the team. We also use Anne Marie and her team for overnights when we’re out of town and I can see how happy and relaxed my boys are while we’re away. I can’t recommend this team enough!
We use The Puppy Au Pair for both midday walks and boarding when we can't have Gus with us. Anne Marie and her team are diligent and caring. Gus looks forward to seeing them and we look forward to regular "Pupdates." You might find a cheaper price, but you won't find a better deal.
The team at Puppy Au Pair always takes great care of my big, anxious ball of cuteness. Communication is easy and they always provide excellent updates.
We have been using Anne Marie and the Puppy Au Pair team for both daily walks and boarding for the past three and a half years since we adopted our dog and we HIGHLY recommend them! Anne Marie is extremely reliable and responsive and she and her team take amazing care of our dog, always making sure that he's safe, comfortable, and happy. Thanks to Anne Marie, we never have to worry about our dog while we're at work or away (and he loves all of the Puppy Au Pair team members so much!!!). They are extremely trustworthy and responsible and we truly don't know what we'd do without them.
We've used The Puppy Au Pair for our pups mid-day walks/in home sitting for the last 2 years and Anne-Marie and her team are fantastic. I can tell that Anne-Marie, Daria, and all of the team truly love our dogs and look after them as such. We even get emailed pupdates on how walks/overnight stays go .We recently moved and were afraid we'd have to look for another dog walker and Anne-Marie found a way to make it work. Highly recommend.
There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible our experience with Anne Marie and the entire Puppy AuPair team has been! She put us at ease immediately the first time we met her, taking notes about our pups and asking tons of detailed questions to ensure they are well taken care of. Since then, we’ve continued to work with the Puppy AuPair team for walk breaks, weekends away, and trusted them with all three of our dogs while out of town for 10 days. Even if the pups didn’t race to greet their friends at their home away from home when we drop them off, we can see how well they are taken care of in the daily email updates we receive. We feel so comforted knowing that our dogs are getting the attention they need, and the descriptions and videos of what they’ve been up to are also hilarious. Thank you Puppy AuPair team for everything! We cannot recommend you enough!
Anne Marie and the Puppy Au Pair team have been crucial to raising and taking care of my dog Ace since he was 8 weeks. The Puppy Au Pair team is reliable, communicative and flexible. They treat Ace as if he was there own dog on every single walk. They always send pictures and a detailed report post walk, which I look forward to so much. Putting your dog in someone else’s care can be nerve wracking at first, but meeting the Puppy Au Pair team changes that instantly. As long as they’ll have us, Ace and I will be loyal members of the Puppy Au Pair fam!!
My partner and I took a little trip to celebrate my birthday and our dog Cony stayed at Little Jodie’s PlayHouse. We were very pleased with the professionalism, communication, and how they thrive to keep your fur family happy and content. Cony came home happy as can be. I almost thought she wanted to stay ha! We definitely recommend your pet(s) to stay here. You will not be disappointed! We will be using Little Jodie’s PlayHouse in the near future and futures to come! Thank you for taking such good care of my baby girl! ❤️🐶
We do not live in the area and needed puppy day care for our two small dogs while we attended a wedding. This was a great experience! They had never been away from us at all for any length of time before but they behaved themselves, the ladies kept us updated with photos of them on their walks and were very responsive to all enquiries. If we are in the area again and need this service we will be delighted to use Little Jodi's playhouse. Recommended.....
Little Jodie's PlayHouse is a gem of a local pet boarding and care business in the heart of the city. I am so grateful to the team who made sure my little French Bulldog Josephine received the care, attention, and comfort she needed while I was on extended travel. I will be using them again!
I love the way that the owner treats and loves on her pets. She made our Scrappy feel loved, clipped his nails, and we will definitely use her services again. Thank you so much.
First time ever that I needed for someone to watch over my dog and I was in a dire situation and was not able to afford the options available at that time, fortunately I came across this amazing place that is affordable and very professional as they strive to keep your pets as comfortable as possible The staff is quite friendly and they keep you updated on how your doggie is doing sending you pictures of them, so you don't have to worry about anything they're in good hands.
Love the care and attention given to my cats! Definitely appreciate the personal in-home grooming. Thanks Little Jodies Playhouse.
Very good my pets were in good care I would definitely bring them back I received constant updates about my animals thank you broadus-west family❤️❤️
Great caregiving for my dog and my cat. Clear communication, and my animals come home content.
If a business is this great you would look really slow if you put your pet in someone else care! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
I cannot say enough nice things about Tails of the City. We have used them for dog boarding (in a sitter's home) about half a dozen times over the last 2 years, and our dog is always so well taken care of and happy to see his sitter. When we first found Tails of the City we were trying to find a place where he wouldn't be around other dogs (he's friendly but used to being an only dog) with an experienced walker. The scheduling is a breeze, and nothing makes my day more than getting little "report cards" about how he's doing. If you're looking for trustworthy sitters and walkers, I cannot recommend Tails of the City more!
Tails of the City is fantastic! We have been working with them for 2+ years. I have a 13 y/o, weather-averse, dog-reactive Yorkie who likes to be carried more than he likes to walk, and all of the folks we have worked with from Tails have been phenomenal about accommodating his special quirks. Scheduling is a breeze, everyone is so communicative, and the daily progress reports never fail to make me smile.
I use Tails of the City for their cat-sitting service and have nothing but great things to say. The owners and staff are kind, professional, and responsive. Scheduling is a breeze, and pricing is very fair. I love that I receive a personalized email with photos and a detailed description of my kitty's mood, behavior, eating habits, etc, at the end of each visit. It really puts me at ease knowing that she's being looked after by such caring folks while I'm away. Thank you for being so awesome, Tails of the City! Kitty and I appreciate it very much :)
We love Tails of the City! They are affordable and we get the best pics and updates from our dog walker (and portrait mode glamour shots!). Our shy girl has come out of her shell so much through her weekly walks with a group of other dogs through Tails of the City and has learned to play with other dogs at the dog park (previously she would just hang with the humans)! They are incredibly responsive in terms of scheduling and have a very easy client portal.
We love Tails of the City! We use their dog walking and boarding services frequently. They take such good care of our pets and provide great customer service.
Great experience with Guadalupe! I hired her to walk my fearful reactive dog who avoided strangers to the point of paralysis. The goal was to get my dog to a point where housesitting when I travel for work could be possible. Within two weeks of daily walks, Guadalupe was able to retrieve and walk my dog on solo walks without me.
No one takes better care of our kitty than TOTC. They have a great booking system and always give fantastic updates with pictures that make us feel better while we’re away.
We have used TOC for many years. Wonderful service overall. Tiffany Reyes is the best.
Great company! Have provided care for two of our pets over the last few years. Easy scheduling process and excellent communication with owners on how each visit goes.
Wound up walking all the way to their address for an initial meeting because they did not specify they were coming to our address to meet
We love Playful Pack! Our dog, Stewart, always has the best time. They are wonderful and accommodating. We’ve taken him to several local doggy daycare spots and Playful pack has been our favorite by far, both for convenience, price, enrichment activities, and just overall how happy he is to go to daycare. I love that we can watch him on the live feeds wrestling with his friends during the day. Highly recommend!
We are having the best experience with Playful Pack so far! They have the best price, flexibility, and staff compared to other daycares in the area. They know my puppy very well, and I love being able to check on her through the camera during the day. My dog has separation anxiety and usually doesn’t like it when I drop her off, but here she seems much more relaxed and happy.
LOVE Playful Pack. Have used all 3 daycares in the neighborhood and this is both my and my dog’s favorite. The staff got to know him so quickly and always seem genuinely excited to see him. They have a password protected webcam to check-in if you ever need to and take a bunch of pictures during the day. They are clean which I very much appreciate (my dog never comes home smelling like pee, yay!!). Also, the activities they offer (like Pupaccino day or bubble play day) are so fun. It’s on the more expensive side but it’s worth it IMO. Playful Pack is so great to have in the neighborhood.
There are nightmarish dog boarding stories in DC, so I am very wary of who gets to know my pup. Playful Pack is amazing! Their customer service is also amazing beyond amazing. One time, I stopped by as my leash broke and I was a block over from them. They gave me a leash, no questions asked! They’re the best in the business!
My pup has his evaluation day at this location yesterday and he returned home a tired boy! Overall, I was a little skeptical becasue he is usually very excited about daycare even if it is a new place, and here he was a bit more hesitant and anxious than usual. After leaving him, I realized he just needed a little more time to adjust, but seemed to enjoy it. The staff even sent pictures of his activity throughout the day (which I really appreciated) to prove that he was having a great time. They were very understanding of my worry and let me peek my head in the play area multiple times before I left to make sure my dog was adjusting okay. The only suggestion I would offer is that they get a double gate for the play area-- Everytime they opened the door to let a dog out, other dogs tried to escape into the hallway. I will be leaving him for an overnight stay next week and the prices are pretty good too, espeically for DC! Hopefully this can become his new boarder and daycare. Leaving this review because i would have appreciated more insight before dropping him off, so hopefully this helps another pawrent!
I know Luna is in great hands when I drop her off at daycare. The staff is incredibly attentive and loving towards Luna and the other pups under their care. I’m so grateful for the Dogtopia team!
Incredibly frustrated in the service from Dogtopia. My dog was injured during play while being boarded and were received absolutely no communication regarding the incident. His nail was almost ripped completely from the nail bed, leaving a bloody, open wound. It wasn’t until a friend picked him up while I was still away was the injury mentioned in passing. As soon as the friend told us about it, we asked for pictures to consult a vet. The vet immediately responded saying there was high risk of infection, it would get worse with continued open play and he was likely in a lot of pain. I feel absolutely awful my dog sat at Dogtopia for days in pain. Had they been paying attention and had policies to notify owners immediately of injury, the injury would almost certainty not gotten so bad. But days instead of hours later, he spending the entire morning at the vet under sedation to treat the wound. I get things happen at daycare, injuries aren’t unavoidable, but it’s the lack of communication and concern by Dogtopia that is infuriating. Who sees a dog with a torn off bloody nail and does nothing? They knew his owners were not the ones picking him up. We were still never directly contacted.
An absolutely disgusting place. It smelled horrible. I couldn’t even stay in there for five minutes. The lady said that that is what they cleaned with and it’s dog drool and pee, but let me tell you my dog does not smell like that at all. Not even PetSmart smells as disgusting as this place. Therefore, I decided not to board him there. Additionally, I went for a meet and greet and they had somebody new who really didn’t know the rules. Nevertheless, I decided I didn’t want to be there anyways because of the horrible smell. I wouldn’t go so far as to say she was rude, but she definitely didn’t seem to care about helping me or answering any of my questions. She is the front desk person so if she is a representative of the rest of the staff, I definitely would not be wanting to go there
I really appreciate that the Dogtopia team really gets to know your dogs and really work with them where they're at. I've already noticed such positive changes in my pups' behavior, and this is their first time in a daycare setting, going on two weeks! (Also please enjoy these CUTE photos from daycare)
We've been coming to Dogtopia for daycare for about two months and are now bringing our second dog. Our dogs come home happy and tired each time and the staff is amazing! They know our dog's names on sight and genuinely enjoy interacting with them.
The staff at Dogtopia DC will treat your fur baby like their fur baby and post day care feedback is always great. Dogtopia DC staff truly cares!!
We used them a few times for grooming and play when our big guy was a puppy. They’re great and have a very central location. He can’t go anymore because he is unaltered and over 1 yr. Be aware!
We were in the city for just a few days but wanted to be able to go sightseeing where our dog was not necessarily welcome. Dogtopia to the rescue. It was so awesome to know our baby was getting her own mental and physical stimulation while we were out and about. The doggie cams gave us peace of mind and entertained us when we took a break from sightseeing. Every coach at dogtopia was so friendly and clearly loved working with their furry clients. Almost forgot the complimentary dog bath! Though usually offered for a fee, they provided it for free due to some issue with the floors - I really appreciated the business handling it without me even asking. Note- dogs go through an assessment before being accepted which gave us great confidence that they were careful in taking and placing the dogs together.
This location of Dogtopia is just wonderful. I love love love the staff here. They love my pup just as much as I do! They gave my pup a cute little nickname WigglyButt!! We have used their daycare, boarding, and grooming services. All of their services are top notch. Thanks for always taking such great care of my pup.
This place is horrendous. Absolutely atrocious. My dog unfortunately contracted kennel cough after staying here, and it has been the most gut wrenching journey for him to recover. This place is unkept, dirty, and not to mention, windowless!! I do NOT recommend this place as it has caused immense pain to my dog and our family.
District Pet Care is simply the best. Our vet recommended them, and we couldn’t be happier. Jackie and her team are great petsitters, and they have always gone above and beyond for us and our cat. When our baby arrived earlier than expected, for example, we texted Jackie from the hospital and she rearranged her schedule to take care of our cat even though it was a holiday. More recently, Henry arrived at our house while we were on vacation and found that the lock was sticking and he couldn’t get in. He finally got the door open after lots of effort and a trip home to get WD40. Without making a big deal about it, Henry spent hours of his time ensuring that our cat got fed, and he saved us lots of anxiety and an expensive locksmith call. Even when they’re not saving us from disasters, District Pet Care sitters do a great job—they are reliable, send pictures every day, and make sure our cat has everything he needs. Another great benefit is that Jackie has medical training and is able to administer shots and medications. She comes once a month to give our cat an injection, and she keeps track of the schedule for us and is so flexible and friendly. It’s always a joy to see her! In short, Jackie and her team are amazing. Your pet will be in the best hands if you hire them!
I adore District Pet Care. Catherine has been so amazing with my two cats and I love that she takes the time to sit with them and give them attention. She also sends detailed messages that reassure me while I am away. Thank you for treating my two girls with such care and love!
Jackie and her team are excellent! We have used District Pet Care two separate times and our kitties and fish were well taken care of! I love that we receive daily updates of and photos while we are away. It is such aa great relief to know that our pets are in great hands while we are away.
Jackie is very sweet and professional. She was flexible in terms of schedule and made me feel very comfortable leaving my two fur babies in her care. She also sends updates and pictures every time she visits, which is awesome. I will definitely use District Pet Care again whenever I go on my next vacation! It is nice to finally have a good pet sitter established!
When my usual cat sitter told me she was discontinuing her services, she recommended District Pet Care to me. I used them this past week and was impressed with the level of communication, photos of my babies, and care they received while I was away. The cats were fed, played with, and loved by Jackie, who cared for them. I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a professional cat or small animal sitter.
Jackie has taken care of my cat twice now, while I have been away for a week at a time. She does a great job! She is very professional and very good with my cat. There's no hiding under the bed when Jackie comes to visit! I love that I get photo updates and messages while I'm gone. I feel very comfortable trusting Jackie in my house and with my cat.
Thanks so much to Jackie for taking care of my two boys while I was on the other side of the country. I've always been nervous to leave them alone when I travel, but Jackie's consistent updates made me feel better. She also has a way with animals, as one of my cats never leaves his hiding spot for strangers, but on the second day he let Jackie pet him. I'll be using District Pet Care for as long as I live in DC.
We love our District Pet Care friends! Jackie and Samiksha and the entire team are warm and friendly and take amazing care of us!! They also take fun photos and send them to our Mom every day! We agree with our Mom that Jackie and the team are the best sitters ever - so take it from us, you want District Pet Care taking care of you like they do us! - Sam and Kevin
Very highly recommend Jackie! Super sweet and reliable. When we returned home everything was spotless and our cats were happy and relaxed. She provides daily updates with photos which is greatly appreciated, plus she brought up our mail and watered our plants. Felt completely comfortable leaving our home and pets in Jackie's care and will definitely be doing so again!
Jackie is wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about her, she took absolutely great care of my cat while I was away, and kept me updated each visit with pictures. It made for such a great vacation, there was no stress worrying if my cat was in good hands or not. I will definitely be using Jackie the next time I need a pet sitter.
I can’t stop telling my friends about this business! Over a decade in Vet medicine, compassionate, reliable, and it’s inexpensive compared to the Rover and wagtime. I love the edible arrangements and toys they leave on the last day for my pet. Also making sure my mail box isn’t full and my plants are also taken care of. I didn’t say this, but I have a camera in my home and District Sitting touch anything they were suppose too or go in any room that was closed. I love this service!
Our golden retriever, Georgie, loved her social treks with Woo. The walks allowed her to socialize with other dogs, get outside and her energy out, which made us busy dog parents very grateful!
I have known Woo and his pack since 2018 and highly recommend Pawcierge. From dog training to social treks, pet boarding to custom pet therapy for fur babies —and their people— Woo will treat your loved ones with care, respect, and a genuine concern that is rare to find in life. Pawcierge helps me hold my sandwich generation story together—from training sessions with my daughter and her dog, to social visits with my mom and her dog—we are so blessed to have Pawcierge in our lives! The training, socializing, and boarding services are one of a kind, personalized and the highest quality care available. Best of all, you are hiring someone that will treat your pets, your plants, your home, and your family—like family!
Literally the ultimate dog whisperer. Greg worked with our first dog right after we adopted him. Our dog is perfect on and off the leash, understands plenty of commands/words and is very gentle and calm with our toddler. We are pretty sure that our dog likes Greg more than us! Our only regret is that we don’t live close by anymore!
Woo was amazing! I requested at home services which meant Woo would visit Radley 3 times a day. He went above and beyond by taking him on long walks, playing outsides and inside, and taking extra care to keep Radley clean. I could tell Woo and Radley loved each other and it was the sweetest thing to see! Woo understood Radley’s needs and I had no worries while I was gone. I highly recommend Paw’Cierge!
Let me say that the owner of Paw’Cierge is patient, loving, and caring with all of the fur babies, he cooks them meals daily, I mean actually take the time to prep and cook them healthy meals everyday. The way he works with and train them is awesome to watch.. Especially seeing them begin to listen to commands, and not be so anxious around other fur babies and ppl. He handles them with great care as if they were his very own fur babies, and his prices are very affordable and reasonable. If you’re looking for a pet service, training, boarding, etc, he's your guy!!! You wont regret it!!!
Woo came over to do an assessment for my dog, Otis. Woo has a calm demeanor and great vibe about him. So much so that Otis behaved the ENTIRE time he was here. The best performance I’ve ever seen in my life! I took away some key trainings from Woo and appreciate him coming over to show me how well behaved my baby is!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pawcierge and Woo! My Yorkie, Mylo, had been struggling with anxiety and some behavioral issues, and I was hesitant to leave him with anyone. From the moment we arrived, Woo put my worries at ease with his calming presence and understanding approach. Woo went above and beyond by not only providing a safe and welcoming environment for Mylo but also offering extensive training sessions that genuinely made a difference. He took the time to understand Mylo’s unique needs and worked with him patiently, helping him overcome his anxiety. Woo’s training techniques were gentle yet effective, focusing on building Mylo’s confidence and reinforcing positive behaviors. Throughout Mylo’s stay, Woo kept me updated with regular progress reports and videos, which showed just how much Mylo was thriving. He approached every session with care, gradually helping Mylo become more relaxed and better behaved. By the time I picked him up, I noticed a remarkable change—Mylo was calmer, more responsive, and overall a happier dog. Pawcierge’s commitment to tailored care and Woo’s dedication to my furry friend’s well-being exceeded my expectations. I’m so grateful to have found such a reliable and compassionate boarding service. Woo and the team truly treat pets like family. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to not only care for but also improve the well-being of your pet, Pawcierge is the place to go!
I was having some work done at my home and didn’t want my cat around all the noise so he spent the day with Paw’Cierge. Even in a home with 5 dogs, he had his own space and was able to feel comfortable. I got constant updates via text and online so I was always assured of my cats wellbeing. I would highly recommend for cats and dogs alike 🫶🏽
Greg is amazing! We have had him care for our dog multiple times! It’s a no brainer, we know we are in good hands when Greg is involved. My dog loves him! She loses her mind when he walks through the door!! She even starts to ignore us a little bit to show off with him. She is so well behaved with him and he is so patient and gentle with my dog. She truly respects Greg so much!
My puppy rocked basic obedience class but still had some things that she needed to work on. Not only did the Navy Yards dog Whisperer figure out what she needed, they devised a strategic plan and then executed it - which involved my dog interacting with other dogs (handpicked to match her needs) and experiences. We checked in regularly on her process (and so I could reinforce her training/be trained myself). Her behavior problems are gone. She is so much better socialized! This is much more than having a dogwalker. It’s working with someone who gets your dog and their needs. I’m so grateful - she wouldn’t be where she is today without them!
I have to start by saying that my puppy really loved this place. I was so excited to have finally found a daycare home for him. Unfortunately, it was short lived. The first instance of difficulty we had was the employees didn’t know how to start my membership, so it was a real headache. I was wrongfully charged a couple times too. Then, my leash was given away to someone else and while that’s annoying, it’s a human error so we wanted to offer grace. my wife and I were super thankful because the fixed both issues!! They bought a new Kong leash AND harness to replace it, and we were given I think $150 credit to use for the errors in charges. I used the credit initially to see if we wanted to move forward with membership given everything, and unfortunately it still went a bit left. I drop my puppy off with food daily, and that day I sent lunch and dinner because we had a late work day. I picked him up after more than 11 hours there and they gave him NO FOOD the whole day. Gave his bag back to me full of his food. Even worse, Farmers dog is fresh food and it’s very expensive, so when I realized as I got settled that his lunchbox was still full of two portions of food, I was highly disappointed. My dog is a puppy, so food is super important right now for his development, especially in a high activity environment. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from this place because they really are sweet. But they lack certain routine structure that checks and balances where humans may cause errors. I won’t be a customer again because it was all too much for me, but I do hope the tighten those loose ends. We take our pup to DoozyDog now and it’s A M A Z I N G. Check em out if you want a more well rounded option! Atlas doghouse also doesn’t have a bath service like DoozyDog, so your dog will definitely come home smelling of urine and whatever else unless you bathe him yourself daily. Best of luck to atlas nonetheless.
Atlas just recently opened it's location at my building in Navy Yard and it is the best place EVER!!! To see all of the pups daily is a dream come true, it's impossible to not want to walk in and play with them constantly! They are the best addition to our community and I'm so happy to have them here with us!!
We LOVE bringing our dog here! She always has so much fun when she knows she will spend the day here. The staff absolutely adore our dog and she feels the same way. We joke that she likes the staff, especially the woman who greets her in the morning, more than us. They are great for boarding or daycare, because you know they will do a good job taking care of your pup!
I reached out to Atlas for their one on one training services. Prior to I had gone through a few trainers and I did not want to sign up for those super expensive one time training sessions with no guarantee. Thomas was a miracle worker honestly. Benny went from a sweet fluffy 15 pound puppy to a 60 pound 6 month terror! Was just unmanageable and overwhelming to deal with outside our home. In the house, he was the sweetest dog. We kept trying our previous trainer’s method and it was just not working to modify his behavior at all. I was pretty frustrated and super stressed taking him outside for walks. Everyone in the building was scared of him, it was just generally not a good time in our home lol. Thomas sat down and explained everything for the first 30min, and then we went on a walk. I can honestly say I watched my dog transform. It was such a weight off my shoulder, within an hour he was more manageable, well behaved, and calm. Then I would walk him and Thomas would give me pointers. Thomas made it VERY clear this was a one and done training session, not an on going saga of just handing over your money. He trained you and showed you the tools he uses. You are expected to do the work after that. He does offer follow up sessions if you are having specific problems. Which we did! He was great following up to see how things have progressed and when I had an issue he came right back, which I appreciated alot! I can honestly say Benny is a new dog and I feel much more in control and confident about handling him. Ive recommended Thomas to strangers on the street who have the same look I had when my dog was barking, lunging, pulling and not listening.
You can trust Atlas Doghouse with your pup and the guidance they give. I was on the brink of having to return my rescue and needed to board him until I could finalize the arrangements. A 30 minute conversation with the owner, Danny, and his counsel put me on the path to keep my new family member, Buddy. Since that day in 2018, Buddy and I have grown and learned together and Atlas is with us every step of the way.
We've been sending our dog to daycare, boarding or even using their dog walking services since she was 6 months old. She's 5 now for context. When I first called I said that she wasn't the best with strangers or other dogs and Danny said, "she's a puppy, I'm not worried at all." When I tell you that Atlas is her favorite place, I couldn't mean it more. From a treat every morning from Nicolle to the best belly runs from Stephanie every night. Our girl loves it at Atlas. She still hates most people and doesn't get along with other dogs at dog parks but Atlas is a place that I've always been able to trust with our reactive dog and I have absolutely no idea what we'd do without them. Rest easy sending your pups here, they really know how to make them happy and keep them safe at the same time.
I have used Atlas Doghouse for training, walking, boarding, and daycare. Ruby was a wild woman who wouldn’t listen to the training methods that worked on all my other dogs, so I sent her to Danny and now she is a very well behaved young lady. Prior to the pandemic, I used Atlas for walking. Ruby absolutely loved Marcus and all my neighbors would tell me what a good job he did with her. Ruby now lives for going to daycare! She actually gets depressed if I don’t send her enough. She is well taken care of even with all her food allergies so I never have to worry. Can’t say enough good things about this place and everyone who works there!
We have been using Atlas for over five years and there are not enough good words to describe the professionalism, experience, thoroughness, and overall friendliness we've experienced at their primary H St location as well as their new Capitol Hill location. Our dog loves each and every staff member and (sometimes frustratingly) is so well-behaved with all of them. Aside from the wonderful daycare and boarding experiences, Roxy will run up to their walkers on the street while we're on our own walks to greet them; they've alerted us a cut on her eye that we didn't see and helped treat it; they kept her separate and comfortable from other dogs when she suddenly got sick until we could return; they watched her with absolutely no notice for a week when we had to rush to the hospital for an early labor delivery; and these are just the extraordinary moments that stand out among the "routine" care we receive.
My eight-month-old Spinone had only ever done daycare in small settings via Rover, and Atlas was the first place where she’d ever gone to big girl daycare. The folks at Atlas were both patient with my neuroses (no, youuuuuu called them multiple times to inquire after your dog’s emotional well-being and the composition of her friend group) and accommodating to my little Birdie. She boarded for an evening a couple weeks later, and came home tuckered out and blissful. The staff clearly loves dogs and they keep a close eye on your pups! Her first day at daycare, Birdie approached a dog who wasn’t into her affections. They separated them, told me about it when I rang to check in, and appear to have been proactive at the first sign that the other dog wasn’t in the mood. The fact that they group dogs based on play style and energy levels rather than temperament is also a huge plus, as I have a gentle giant who prefers a small dog friend. The only drawbacks: No camera feed! I would also love it if they adopted a District Dogs-style approach of composing a report card with pictures. Neither of these things makes me want to take Birdie somewhere that isn’t Atlas, though— that’s saying something from this helicopter dog parent!
Update: I wanted to add info on their training services with Thomas. I needed help getting my dog to walk without trying to lunge towards every other dog on the sidewalk, and I met with Thomas. It was really remarkable how fast my dog responded to his methods! I previously was using methods from another trainer and they just weren't working, but Thomas does things differently. It's more of a holistic approach that makes a lot of sense intuitively, and I really think I'm well set up for success now. I completely recommend him and will be returning to him whenever I need more help with my energetic young pup! Atlas Doghouse is really helping my new rescue dog build her social skills! She went in for her evaluation for daycare, and they gave me a nice detailed update with pictures halfway through her day, and I got more helpful feedback when I picked her up. She was shy that first time, but bust out of her shell the next time, and the plan is to keep going every week so she can work on her socialization. My training can only do so much, so interacting with other dogs is filling in that missing piece. I have full confidence in the staff to watch over her and the other dogs, so I'm not worried about her while she's there. This is going to be a great boarding option now too since I know she enjoys going. I'm grateful for Atlas!
Lara is great! We adopted a dog, and she is very slow to trust new people. In need of a dog walker, we introduced our dog to Lara last year. Lara was patient and kind and really took time to get to know our pup. Before we knew it, she was leading the pack during weekly walks with Lara and her crew! Lara is professional, responsible, and has earned our dog's trust. We highly recommend Lara and her services if you are looking for A+ care for your pet.
We have used Two Tails DC for a little over a year now. The service and it's owner Lara have been consistently reliable, professional and personable. I honestly think our two cats prefer Lara over us at this point! 😂 Thanks to Two Taild DC, we have peace of mind that our cats Abu and Baloo are being well looked after, and recieve regular updates and photos while we are away. Not only do they get fresh food and water and a litter box clean up but also play time, treats and love. Lara also expertly administers medication to my asthmatic cat when required. This service is so fantastic that our neighbor also now uses Two Tails DC for her cat sitting needs! Would highly recommend to anyone in the Capitol Hill area.
Lara is an incredible petsitter! Not only does our cat adore her, but she is always so communicative, prompt, and professional. It's clear how much she cares about her pet clients, and it is such a relief knowing that our beloved cat is in such capable hands when we are away. We HIGHLY recommend her—your pets will thank you!
Lara is AMAZING! She has walked my (very active and solidly in his rebellious teenage phase) 1.5year Vizsla twice per week since he was 4months. She started with individual potty breaks and now walks with the pack. She's reliable, honest, friendly, communicative, and loves the dogs (and they love her). Lara has been flexible with my schedule when I've had to switch up a walk day.
I used Lara for cat sitting a few times during the year and a half I lived in DC. I’m a bit of a nut about my cat and was nervous about leaving town, as I had never left him alone before. Lara was great, very understanding of my nervous pet owner energy and kept me well-informed the whole time I was away, sending pictures and updates with each visit. She felt like a trusted neighborhood presence who knows the status of everyone’s pet in a half-mile radius. Definitely recommend!
Two Tails cares for our cat when we are away, and when I say "cares" I really mean it. Lara's deep passion for animals comes through in every interaction. She doesn't just drop in to feed our cat and clean the litter box, she makes sure our cat is enriched with treats and pets and playtime and, sometimes, even catTV! Lara clearly enjoys spending time with her "clients". Her love of our cat--and our cats love for her--comes through in the pictures she shares while we are away. The bond is so strong that we've started referring to her as Auntie Lara. I feel so lucky that we found Two Tails.
Two Tails is an amazing dog walking service. Lara has become a part of our dog's life in such an amazing way. She not only is dependable and trustworthy, but has educated us on proper care for our dog and been a great resource as things have come up. Our rescue dog was very shy when we got her, but Lara was able to bring her out of her shell and juggle her walks with a blend of calm dogs and energetic dogs. Lara is passionate about the work and truly cares for your dog as much as you do. She goes above and beyond, and we can’t recommend her enough!
Lara is a consummate professional. She also loves our animals deeply. Lara has been helping with our two cats for a few years now. We found Lara through a neighbor when we moved to the neighborhood and we're so glad we did! She's operating a truly local business with passion and dedication. Payments are easy and direct, costs are very reasonable, scheduling is a breeze, she remembers details of caring for our cats, and she is kind. There are other benefits of working with a true professional - she'll also water our plants, bring in mail/packages, and generally be a reassuring eye on our home while we're away. We cannot recommend her any more highly. Also, check out Two Tails' instagram! :)
We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have discovered Two Tails a little over one year ago. From the first visit, Lara demonstrated a level of responsiveness, trustworthiness, and reliability that immediately put our minds at ease. Living in close proximity to us, Lara's convenient location has been an added bonus, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. What truly sets Two Tails apart is Lara's exceptional commitment to her clients. Recently, we encountered a sudden and unexpected situation that required someone to access our home promptly. Lara's flexibility and willingness to accommodate our needs on short notice averted a potential disaster. It's evident that Lara genuinely cares for the animals under her watch, as our cat not only appears content but also displays a genuine affection towards her. Knowing that he is in such capable and caring hands provides us with much-needed peace of mind whenever we have to be away. We wholeheartedly recommend Two Tails to fellow pet owners in the neighborhood. Lara's professionalism, reliability, and genuine love for animals make Two Tails a standout choice for anyone seeking top-notch cat care. Thank you, Lara!
I used Lara's services for a bit more than a year and was consistently delighted with her care of my cat Luna. The genuine passion she has for animals was evident in the way she communicated with me about Luna and the thoughtfulness with which she cared for her. Lara even took the initiative to come up with a creative solution to deal with a small ant issue we had once to make sure they couldn't make their way to Luna's dishes! I trusted her completely, which is such a gift when it comes to a pet sitter. I only stopped using her services because we moved away from the Hill.
