Home & location

We live in the pretty village of Gullane in East Lothian. Stunning views from our hill top home over the surrounding countryside. The stunning beach is an easy walk down the hill with a slow walk back up! The village has great pubs, cafes and small independent shops. There are 2 buses per hour taking you east to North Berwick or west to the centre of Edinburgh. A golfers paradise with 22 local courses or here in the village is the famous Muirfield. We have spent the last year renovating our home and by mid August it will be finished giving a wonderful contemporary home with fabulous views. We are at the top of a hill so you need to be fit to get to us if you don't have a car.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a house sitter who will spoil Smudge and take him for lovely walks twice a day as well as look after our home. Smudge is only a young dog so need constant reassurance and guidance and he can only be left for sound 30 mins in his crate so far. He has 2 meals a day and treats He enjoys his walks but a he's still young he can walk for a max of 60 minutes. Every walk is an adventure so he still need guidance to make good choices. He need plenty of sleep as well as mental stimulation and if he gets bored can start to be mischievous. His favourite treats when out if he walks nicely are small bits of cheese If you do need to distract him when in the house he loves dried fish tubes which he will chew whilst in his bed. He sleeps in his crate in the utility room from around 10.30pm until 7am. He can sometimes whine and bang on his crate for attention. We ignore this as he just want out to play because he's awake! He has his own dog flap as it very good at going out to the garden to the toilet. He goes out first thing when he comes out of his crate. Once he's been outside then he loves to come back to bed with you for a snooze or he wants to play !

Netty and Hans have always been a pleasure to visit. They have a beautiful home and spacious garden with plenty of lovely walks nearby. Local friends are also on hand to provide help if needed. Kip, the Cockapoo, is now a very special friend of mine. He never ceases to amuse, entertain and generally be great company. I can highly recommend this as a wonderful opportunity for house-sitters. Simply fabulous. Hans and Netty are the most wonderful hosts, and Kip is a delightful soul who will keep you very well entertained! We've been fortunate enough to enjoy 2 sits in this stunning Suffolk barn conversion. Netty and Hans are experienced hosts, and know exactly how to make you feel welcome, valued, supported and at ease. Thank you for a marvellous stay in an exceptional part of the world.

This was only a 5 day sit for us and we loved every minute of it. Kip is full of character, he made us laugh so much. He is such a good boy, very well behaved and we very quickly fell in love with him. We already miss our cuddles with him on the bed in the morning He loves a fun game of chase as well as chasing his ball in the garden. He loves his walks out with you and especially loves a trip out in the car, an excellent passenger! Mostly he just wants to be with you and he's excellent company. His home is in a beautiful village location with many lovely countryside walks direct from the house and the nearby Regrave Fen for more pretty walks. The market town of Diss is nearby for shopping. Netty and Hans made us feel very welcome and made sure we were fully informed of everything that was needed for the sit. We would highly recommend this sit. If you get the chance to care for and spend time with Kip jump at the chance. He will always have a place in our hearts and we hope we can return and sit for him in the future.

I had such a lovely time on this sit. Kip is a really lovely friendly companion and we had gorgeous walks around the countryside and over the Fen. He was very patient sitting quietly while I took photos and looked through my binoculars. The house is so beautiful too and Netty and Hans were lovely welcoming hosts.
