This was our first experience of sharing our home and labrador with house sitters, and we were a little nervous about being on the other side of the world for three whole weeks. We needn’t have worried. Madelyn and Graydon were super organised and we had excellent communication before and during the stay. Frequent updates on Molly who was clearly happy to have found some younger playmates and thrived, I think she is missing them already. At my request they arrived a day early so we could do a proper hand-over and they were great guests for this time. House was spotless and they left a detailed report of their experiences with the house and Molly which were very helpful as a hand-back. We would jump at the chance of having them here again if they are available.

We cannot say enough good things about Annemarie and her care of our dog and home. She knows Roo from a prior sit, so within minutes they were best friends again. She kept in touch with us regularly and sent photos of Roo which we loved. He is very stubborn about not eating when we are gone, so she tried different things with our suggestions and permission. Annemarie took excellent care of our home and plants, both inside and out. She even had muffins for our breakfast the morning after we got home! Annemarie is great about handling whatever comes her way. She has emergency numbers, of course, but she has never had to use them thankfully. We will happily have her care for Roo whenever we go away. We know he is in excellent hands.

Ibrahim sat for us during a summer weekend. He arrived just before we left on our trip with plenty of time to go over the cat care logistics, and he immediately started connecting with our 3 cats, petting them and playing with them. Ibrahim was communicative throughout the weekend and shared photos of the cats (as well as told us about a tree branch that had fallen in the back yard during a storm). We came back to a clean home, freshly laundered sheets and towels, and happy cats. He also left us some delicious curry he had prepared during his stay! Highly recommend Ibrahim as a cat and house sitter!

They sat for us before and were so wonderful with our pets and home, and we were thrilled they returned for another house sit. Kelly was an excellent sitter for us. She communicated well, before the sit and during the sit. When we got home, the dogs and our guinea pig were happy and well. Kelly was dependable and showed up exactly on time. The house was well maintained and clean when we arrived home. We would definitely host Kelly again.

Susan and Jim were exceptional pet sitters for our 2 pups and cat! From the start they were communicative and asked thoughtful clarifying questions that made us feel comfortable immediately. We spent time together the evening before we left for vacation and it was clear that they had read our welcome doc and instructions. They referenced animal behaviors that were noted and confirmed details. They arrived about an hour before we left and gave us all plenty of time to feel comfortable with being in our home. Throughout our vacation, Susan sent photos and updates of our critters and let us know how they were spending their time together. Susan was quick to respond to my messages via WhatsApp any time I reached out. Susan and Jim stayed at our house until we landed at the airport and let them know we were safely on the ground. They fed and walked the dogs and let us know they would be gone before we got home. It was great knowing that had our flight been delayed, they would have stayed at the house until we were safe driving distance away. We came home to a sparkling clean home, a thriving and happy garden, and well cared for animals! Susan and Jim left us detailed notes of their stay and even gave us lots of instructions on how to keep our garden happy! What a treat! All our linens were washed and replaced and the house was immaculate. Thank you Susan and Jim for choosing our home and furry family to spend your time with! You were the best first experience we could have asked for and would love to have you back again!

I’m sure most folks say the nicest things about their sitter, but honestly, if there were a “super star” status available then Denise would win the prize as sitter of the year! From the start, Denise was an excellent communicator. While we were still in the decision phase, Denise was always available to chat either by FaceTime, telephone or text. It was so easy to choose Denise; as you can see from her countless 5 star reviews, she truly is the only pet sitter you’d ever need and the one everyone hopes to have. Denise came to our house eager to meet us, our pets and the quirks of our house. Denise has an excellent sense of humor and immediately put us all at ease. Our pets took to her as if she was a long lost friend (even our finicky Siamese cat was loving on her from the start). While we were gone, our dog had a non-emergency health issue come up and just like that Denise was taking her to our vet, and administered the dog’s meds like a champion (Denise is also a nurse BTW). Additionally, Denise brought our pup to her scheduled groom appointments and even made future appointments for us to make our return home as seamless as possible. Denise was even above and beyond helpful to our neighbors and they appreciated her giving them access to our refrigerator when theirs broke down on Thanksgiving Eve! When we got home we were super impressed by how perfectly immaculate our house was! Most sitters leave the house clean, but Denise met and may have even exceeded our military standards of clean and orderly. Seriously, our house felt like we never left it. Everything was spotless, shinny and clean. She didn’t miss a beat!! Our pets were so happy to see us but honestly, I felt like our pup and kitty were disappointed when we walked in the door (I believe they were expecting to see Denise!). Haha. If you are ever fortunate enough to have Denise apply for any of your sits then I can’t recommend her enough. Seriously, you can stop reviewing applicants and just go with Denise. She was awesome in every sense of the word and I hope she’ll come back and stay with our pets again.

Angela provided complicated medical care for my sick dog for three weeks in Mexico City with the utmost professionalism and kindness Right before Angela’s arrival, my dog was hospitalized and almost died. Angela took care of follow up vets visits, administered eight medicines a day for two weeks, and nursed tico completely back to health I could tell from the photos and videos that she was taking excellent care of him - he was too weak to walk so she made a comfy bed for him in a large bag and carried him a over the city so he could still have fun during his recovery I could not recommend Ángela more. She went so far above and beyond what a pet sitter should do, and she did it all with a caring and capable attitude

Lisa and Matt were absolutely fantastic sitters for us and our dog, Moose. Not only were they flexible when our flight was changed last minute, they also were able to stay an extra day to accommodate the changes. They communicated with us promptly during the scheduling and planning process for the housesit. They arrived on time on the (re)scheduled day. They acclimated to our dog very quickly and gave us piece of mind as we left by taking him on a walk to avoid his separation anxiety. We chatted every day and exchanged photos of Moose playing at the beach and in the yard. He was so happy! No problems were encountered with the house. Even our neighbors commented on how friendly and kind Lisa and Matt both were and how they really cared for Moose. The house was spotless when we returned. Everything in proper order, better than we left it. We can't thank them enough for the excellent experience!

First things first, Linda is awesome! If she applies for one of your sits, you have to accept! This was our first time using zeewoi and is also the first time we have left our dog since we got him. Obviously, we were nervous at the beginning, but Linda removed all aspects of that. She is honestly one of the nicest, kindest, most polite people you will meet. From our first initial meeting, we knew that she was the sitter for us, and for Archie. The day that we left, Archie let out a little cry as we said goodbye. This was the first time he had done this (it broke our heart), but we knew he was in great hands! Throughout the week, Linda was extremely communicative. She would send us daily updates, share videos of their walks together, and send pictures of the two of them having fun. She spoiled Archie with love, attention, and a couple of new toys! When we returned, the house was in the exact same condition as we had left it, and was very clean and tidy. When Linda left, Archie ran to the door, started to cry, and sat/laid there for some time - And we think that this alone is a great reflection of the kind of person that Linda is. Linda – It was an absolute pleasure to host you in our home, thank you for everything that you did for us and Archie, and for making our first experience a positive and memorable one. Archie misses you! We hope you get the chance to do it again for us in the future.

Liz did an amazing job babysitting our home and our pets (3 cats and a dog). Communication with Liz was easy and we felt at ease knowing that everything was being taken care of. Sarah and her team have been the best caretakers of our animals! We started out with one puppy and weekly walks and playdates for socialization and exercise. When we added another puppy, we added more walks and playdates. My doggies look forward to their time with Sarah, Monika and all the other excellent caregivers. I cannot say enough about Sarah Sits-N-Stays! Look no further if you are looking for someone to take care of your fur babies! We have been using Sarah's company since moving to Richmond in August 2022 and couldn't be happier. My partner and I have very hectic schedules, but we have never been unable to schedule a daily walk and lunch for our dog and cat (even sometimes at the last minute!). We have also used them for overnight visits during weekends we are away. We have never been concerned and always feel safe knowing Sarah's company is taking care of them. They even send pictures and updates every day summarizing their time together. Our dog Teddy is always happy (as you can see!) and well-exercised when we get home. Even our cat, who is not much of a "people person," has warmed up to the staff. Caren is the absolute best!! I hate leaving my dog with anyone because he’s been know to escape and I really can’t relax on vacation knowing this. Caren came over to do a walk through and introduction. She was so kind, professional and had everything you’d ever imagine needing from a dog walker/sitter. Our family has a cat named George we love dearly. The children and I recently took a two week vacation and did not want to leave George in a boarding kennel or with friends or neighbors for that length of time. Having The Collar Club of Virginia come into our home was so much better and without a doubt I know that George was lovingly looked after. When Caren came over to meet George for the first time, he immediately took to her and she was so sweet to him. George is a cat who needs a lot of attention. Caren recognized that immediately and went right to his basket of toys. She was excellent from the start - Caren is beyond reliable, dependable and qualified. She sent us pictures of George while we were away with little notes letting us know how he was doing. She brought in our papers and adjusted the lights each day, took out our trash and even coordinated with a serviceman for some plumbing work while we were gone. When we needed help transporting 2 kittens that we had adopted online to our home from the airport, Caren helped us out enormously! Caren is such a kind person and cares endlessly for animals. We enlisted Caren to care for our golden retriever Mosby for 2.5 days. We did one over night stay and twice daily walks. River gets so excited when I pull up to her home. She takes him on play dates with other dogs, sends me photos throughout the day, and gives me advice when I ask. I have used Playful Paws Petcare multiple times to care for my sweet fur-baby. Gisell takes great care of him and he always has the best time making friend with other dogs and playing! Due to his sensitive skin and stomach issues, he needs medications administered and close eye to monitor if there are any issues to arise, which Gisell does a great job. I always receive updates and photos of my pup! I highly recommend using Playful Paws Petcare!!!
Gizell is wonderful! She is very kind and has a beautiful, clean home and set up for keeping animals. Nice fence too! I am so happy to have chosen her to care for my 4 dogs!! Kenny walked our dog for a year. He was a consummate professional and obvious dog lover. Our dog always looked forward to his walks with Kenny. We had Kenny take care of our cats off and on during our nine month stay in the Fan District this past year. Kenny took superb care of our two little critters and our apartment when we traveled. I moved to Richmond 3 years ago and was lucky enough to find Kenny Williams aka The Fan Sitter. He is extremely prompt in getting back to you. He has been responsible for taking care of my 15 year labradoodle many many times and always confirms if Tag is still taking this medication or that one. One trip, Kenny emailed me letting me know he didn't see the peanut butter Tag liked, so he went out and bought some. Kenny is conscientious and very professional. We can’t recomend All For Cobalt highly enough! I was nervous about traveling but when we met I knew my 4 cats were in great hands. I could tell right away that Marla loved animals, was extremly experienced, and super detailed. She took notes on each kitty and there were backup plans to the backup plans. Marla sends daily updates and it was awesome to watch the shyest cats slowly fall in love with her through daily updates! I would give a 100 out of 5 stars if I could - it’s such a relief when your away that someone who genunily cares and has a ton of experience is coming by to spoil your little munchkins.
Marla is fantastic!!! All for Cobalt was recommended to me when we were trying to figure out what to do with our kitty, Billy, while on vacation this year. I had been completely stressed thinking I was going to have to drive home several times during the week to check on him. Let me just say, Marla is the best!! She visited Billy 4 times while we were gone, made sure he was fed, had water and cleaned his box. On top of that she stayed for about 45 mins, brought him toys and catnip, AND he loved her! Billy doesn’t like people; however we got pictures and videos of him not only on his own but him right there with Marla allowing her to pet him, play with him and brush him!! I am beyond pleased and will never have anyone else come to care for him! I highly recommend Marla with All for Cobalt!

Have been using Premier Pets for years and have nothing but great things to say about them. On one visit, my cat was sick and the sitter, in communication with me (in Mexico) and the the Owner, Martha Geiger, took my cat to the emergency vet after hours. Everything turned out fine.
Premiere was a great help to me with my dog EV. Their Time to Pet app is a way to keep track of visits and get a nice summary of your pet's behavior. You also get some lovely photos. The staff was always communicative and kind. I would absolutely use them again.

We were nervous about leaving our two cats for 8 days. They are very attached to us and haven't been around other people very much. Martha, the professional and compassionate owner of Premiere Petsitting, assigned cat-lover Kerensa as our main sitter. As soon as she came for the meet and greet, our worries dissipated. She was friendly and warm - we knew our kitties would be in good hands. She, along with another lovely sitter, Lillian, sent us twice daily updates with photos. It was such a relief not to worry how our kitties were doing - the reports we received put our minds at ease during our trip. So many amazing things to say about Haley. We have used her twice for overnight stays with our 2 rescue dogs. First of all the communication before and during is effortless. She texts almost immediately if we have questions or if we are just checking in. Also, she is very prompt. If she says she will arrive at 3 pm she will be there. I was a little nervous using her the first time just because we had never left our pets with anyone other than family. We went away this past weekend overnight and she stayed with our pups and I had zero worries and knew that I could text or call at anytime. Both of our dogs love her and she always sends us adorable pictures. I would not use anyone else. We have several upcoming weekend getaways coming up in the Spring and we will definitely use Haley. We feel so blessed that we found someone that truly loves what she does and it shows!

Haley has cared for my dog Calvin for nearly four years now, and she is wonderful. He adores her and we think of her as part of the family. He has canine epilepsy, and though it has been well- controlled for a couple years now (fingers crossed), he has a somewhat complex food and medication regimen, but Haley is always on top of it and is more than capable of handling it. She has done both drop-in visits and overnight house/dog sitting for us, and she takes wonderful care of everything. She is a "natural" with animals and I absolutely recommend her.
I cannot say enough great things about this business! I reached out to Haley to check in on my cat while I was out of town, and I do not regret it one but. She responded to my inquiry very quickly and was easy to chat and schedule with- we even scheduled a meet and greet for her and my cat. Oh my gosh.....where do I even start on Haley?! Is there a way to leave more than 5 stars? Let me start by saying I was impressed when she didn't run off after meeting with me.....I think I may be one of the worst helicopter fur-moms and the pickiest about my animals care, in the world. That being said, it is hard for me to even explain how grateful we are to have found her and have her in ours/our animals lives! She is so knowledgeable and understanding, and goes above and beyond every single time. Our animals, who sometimes take a while to come around, took to her instantly and are familiar with her face now and look forward to when they get to see her. I think when we came back from a trip, they were more sad that she had left. She remembers every little detail and for someone that gets so beyond stressed leaving their animals, that is so, so helpful! She checks in on our animals (one of them has some life threatening health issues) when she doesn't have to, and knows the way we want everything, every time. I used to not be able to leave without writing a book of instructions and being panicked the entire time I was away...and even with all the things our animals require and everything she has to remember, she still finds time to send pictures, give additional updates and go the extra mile for us and our pets without us even asking. I cannot explain the gift this girl has for this or put into words how much I recommend her. She has been a blessing to us and we are so thankful for her every time. If you want the best care for your animals, and I mean the best, do not consider anyone but Haley!

This five star review is for the groomer at Pets at Play (can’t speak to daycare or boarding, as I’ve never done either). I have a 9 year old doodle and trust me, finding a groomer who is not only willing to groom your doodle but also does it well and with a good attitude (many get annoyed) is rare. I always leave happy! He does a great job and in my experience $100 for ~the works~ is affordable. So glad to have found him!

My dog loves Pets at Play! I have been taking Ollie to Pets at Play for daycare, overnight boarding and grooming for over a year now. He is a sweet but sensitive dog. Pets at Play is the only dog boarding and grooming place in RVA that he enjoys going to and being at. The groomer is always very thoughtful about grooming Ollie the way I like. She called me before she groomed Ollie just to confirm she knew what I wanted from his cut. Very blessed to have Pets at Play in our lives
When I tell you my baby loves this place!!! He is a mamma's boy, if he doesn't know you he will not go near you. BUT when we come to Pets at Play he runs right through the door to the day care and grooming! He comes home tired from day care so I know he is playing and having fun!!
Only been here a few times but I am now a loyal customer! They must be doing something right, because now every time I walk my dog he tries to pull me in the direction of Pets At Play. He is so ecstatic every time we go, I am starting to bring him there just for fun in addition to out of necessity! Do note: if your dog is over 70 lbs they won’t be able to be boarded overnight due to kennel sizes, but they do wonderfully accommodating larger dogs in daycare! My pup loves Pets At Play!
Came here for their grooming services and was not disappointed! They were polite and informative when I called with questions and were super friendly in person. And they made my pup adorable! Will definitely return for future grooming services and daycare services.
My westie,, Tucker loves this place to play. I think he has a girlfriend there. They are kind, courteous and true animal lovers. This is the only place he’ll play with other dogs as he never plays outside my home with any other dogs male or female.
I booked grooming for my dog a month ago and was very clear (in writing) about his large size (~100 pounds) - they even said it was fine in writing. I drove 40 minutes to get there and as soon as I was pulling into my neighborhood after drop off, the groomer called to say that my dog was too heavy to fit on the table/a leg of the table was breaking. He made sure to mention that it was not my dog's fault at all/he was fine. He said he has been trying to get new equipment for grooming from management but they're refusing. What type of table doesn't hold 100 pounds? I drove for 2 hours total between 7:00am and 9:00am all because they couldn't provide the groomer the correct equipment to provide grooming services to my dog. It's not his fault in my opinion, but if he knew that size would be an issue, they should have let me know well in advance, as I had booked it a month ago. My dog used to go to Pets at Play about two years ago and there were not issues then (and he was around the same weight). Very disappointed in the lack of communication and lack of resources to provide grooming services. A word of advice to management: do not advertise grooming for dogs of all sizes/approve grooming for larger dogs if you cannot actually do it.
We used to be faithful Pets at Play customers for over 3 1/2 years, having taken our 4 year old since she was a puppy, and our 6 month old for a solid year at least two days a week for each. Over that time, we’ve provided them thousands of dollars in revenue, somewhere around $8k-$9k between daycare, baths and the occasional boarding. In March of 2019, we sent our older dog in for her regular daycare appointment and requested she get a bath and her nails trimmed. When we got her home, we noticed she was licking her paw quite a bit and saw one of her nails was badly damaged, split, and beginning to ooze pus. No one at Pets at Play called or told us her nail was damaged, even though they said her nails were cut. We emailed the owner with our concerns and received a call back from an employee, who specifically told me she was calling as to not cause any confusion, but they could not get their story straight. To me, it sounds like they didn’t want a paper trail of any potential responsibility. One person said the nails were cut, then the groomer said they did not need to be cut. If the nails got cut, why did no one tell us they damaged her nail? If they did not need to get cut, that obviously means you checked them all, right? And if you saw one was damaged, why were we never told? Whatever the case, our dog went to daycare just fine, but left with a badly damaged nail which required sedation and surgery the next day to the tune of $275 in vet bills. Whether our dog’s nails were cut, Pets at Play was negligent at best, and deceptive at worst in trying to conceal or claim ignorance of her injury. Finally, to add insult to injury (literally), I went into their online system that weekend to cancel the next two daycare reservations (because our dog needed to be at home to recover from surgery), and they had deleted all of her reservations for the next year without telling us. I never said anything to them, so why would they delete our standing reservations? It doesn’t seem like a good business practice to alienate loyal customers as we have been for years. The way Pets at Play treated our dog, my wife and me is no way to treat loyal customers. We’ve always enjoyed taking our dogs to Pets at Play for daycare and boarding, but I no longer have any faith in how they treat us or our dogs. We will not be returning, nor can I recommend their services.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful PETs at PLAY is! Dixie knows when I say "want to go see your friends" exactly where she is going and doesn't even look back when we hit the door! That is how I know, PETs at PLAY is the absolute BEST. Dixie has only ever stayed the night in her entire 11 years with my parents, PETs at PLAY and me. I LOVE the emailed pictures throughout the day of her literally smiling and having fun! I am particular because she is such an important part of my life and choosing a daycare and place to board seemed impossible until we experienced PETs at PLAY. Dixie's excitement when talking about, going to and spending time here is exactly why PETs at PLAY will be the only place we go!

Bugsy loves going to Four Paws on Hamilton Street in Richmond! They are very kind and gentle with him when we arrive. The staff eased him into the yard during his first visit. Now, he can't wait to play with all of his new doggie friends and it seems that when it's time to go home he wants to stay longer. Since moving to the area, Four Paws has been such a gift for me and my golden. She is always eager to jump out of the car and run inside when she realizes we are heading there for daycare. It is so convenient to be able to board her there as well, with people, pets, and surroundings she is comfortable and familiar with. When it comes to our pet needs, there’s no one we trust more than the kind and helpful staff at Four Paws in the Fan 🙂
My dog Dexter has been going to Four paws fan location since he was a puppy. I love the fact that he gets to play all day, unlike some daycares that keep them caged most of the day. Dex loves it there. It’s his second favorite place to be (home is first of course). The employees are very nice, but most importantly, I like the way they treat Dexter.
I cannot say enough about how incredible the staff at Four Paws is. My sweet boy is an anxious guy and he absolutely loves going to hang out at daycare. Emma, Bailey, and Ericka have always been so welcoming and informative - we’re very grateful to have found them after moving to the area.
I have been pleasantly surprised by Four Paws! Their Hamilton St. location is just down the street from my new job. I took our Bichon, Finn, there for day care because we had just moved to the area and I wasn't sure about leaving him home all day. They took great care of him and he seemed happy at the end of the day. I also just recently used their boarding services when we went out of town for a few days. Again, they took great care of him. The staff are very friendly and genuinely love dogs. :-) I always know that Finn is in good hands there. I also appreciate their very reasonable and affordable prices. My pup has been going to Four Paws for almost a year now and he loves it! He only goes a twice a week for daycare, but as soon as we pull into the parking lot his tail starts going crazy and he's itching to go play with all his friends. We also board him here when we travel out of town and it gives me such a peace of mind to know that he's playing constantly when I'm gone and being cared for so well. All the staff is so kind and easy to work with!
I have taken way too long to leave this review! WE LOVE FOUR PAWS! Angus has so much fun and gets to run and play for hours on end. The first day we brought him, they managed to convince him to let them cut his nails (and charged nothing for the first time), which was 1) an amazing first impression and 2) a huge relief for a dog mom tired of wrestling with a 65 pound scaredy cat. He left that day completely tuckered out, which was beautiful. They send pictures often and give updates on how his day went whenever I come to pick him up. Such sweet humans, and a service worth every penny. Highly recommended!
I absolutely love 4 paws!! They take the best care of my dog nacho! He even has regular doggy friends that he hangs out with at day care :)
